Alive would probably edge out Evenflow IMO.
Black, Jeremy & Betterman are up there, as are Daughter, and Elderly Woman.

    Alive. Not even close.

    Alive for sure.
It makes much more sense to live......in the present tense.

Black was the first track that came to mind... but hard to argue with Alive and/or Even Flow

i'd say Alive. Just to add a little controversy though (i love that), betterman might be one that gets the most radio play these days.

I'd vote Alive but for me Black has the lyrics, beautiful melodics and intensity that makes Pearl Jam.

There was a period of a few years when the only PJ song I'd catch on the radio (UK) was 'Last Kiss' and for some people I knew that was the song they associated the band with.
    But, no, 'Alive' all day.

    Alive.

Although a lot of top 10 lists for PJ list Jeremy. I guess that song/video had the biggest impact. Although I think any casual music fan can mumble Eddie's vocals incoherently for Jeremy and Even Flow on tune.

Jeremy blew them to a new level, but best song to sum up the ERA, them? Evenflow. It showed they were not a typical rock band, not a Nirvana hack job. It let us know they offered something different. Alive is right there

If you want GRUNGE then you have to go with Deep, Blood or Once, -----Not For You or Animal (SNL performances of these are as good as it gets)

If you want Anthem, then Jeremy or Alive (Alive preferably)

Evenflow got me into them, VS made them number two to Metallica, then Not For You SNL made them number one for good along with 3-10-94 and 7-11-95

I would guess that if you picked random people off the street and asked them to name a Pearl Jam song, the two most popular responses would be "Alive" and some iteration of "I don't know any Pearl Jam songs."

    So, I'll go with Alive.

There are a few ways to interpret this. I thought I'd see more "Black," which is the runaway favorite of this board.

Amongst this board, "Black" is definitely the favorite and the one that everyone agrees on.

Among the masses, Jeremy's the song that makes people think of PJ.

But Alive makes sense, since it was "first" and it has the rock anthemy hook.

You could also argue for Elderly Woman, the biggest "sing along song"

Didnt really think about Better Man. Whenever someone learns that I'm a huge fan this is usually the song that comes up in conversation. Daughter too actually.

I'm surprised more people haven't mentioned Elderly....... it's not as big as Alive, or Black, but it's definitely one of their more well known songs.
