RNR HOF Possible Show Near the Ceremony Date???

cmaliszecmalisze Posts: 2,626
Many folks, myself included, travelling to NYC for the ceremony. Some are creating a "buzz" about a possible show corresponding with the ceremony. Has any other band scheduled a performance outside of the RNR HOF Ceremony? What is the precedent?

Green Day played House of Blues in 2015 before induction in Cleveland.

This by NO means should equal PJ doing the same thing

I agree. I think if they played a show near the 7th of April it would take away the luster of the HOF Ceremony.

Think maybe they will do a late night show in NYC on Wednesday or Thursday night? I haven't booked flights yet but it would be pretty cool if there was something happening before or after the HOF Ceremonies.

Truly, I hope they do not. With the fan base it surely would overshadow the HOF.

I hope to fly into NY on Thursday and spend weekend. If they do a show great, if they don't will still be a great time. I couldn't help but look up previous inductions, we are talking around 30 minutes max. From introduction video, to speeches to performance, as much as I love this band, 30 minutes of a historic moment is more than worth the flight. Anything extra they may wish to do, no complaints here : )

Same. Coming from Chicago, as well. Except I am in Friday and out Saturday.

There was a Nirvana show at the same time of their induction with a few performers filling in for KC on vocals (just like at the RRHoF induction).

Fan club show the night before would be awesome! Why would that overshadow the ceremony? Ceremony is for the masses...

The ceremony will be mostly PJ fans anyways. If they did another show it'd be all PJ fans overtaking the ceremony. As much as I love PJ, the other inductees deserve their due.

Didn't KISS and a few other bands do this a couple years back the week of or like the week after the induction ceremony? I think it was on Fallon

I hope they do a 3 night stand at MSG. I don't see how another show or shows would overshadow the HOF ceremony.

I really deeply hope they shelve all shows until they make more music.

I get that feeling and don't disagree with it. But a couple shows in April won't make a bit of difference to the release date of a new album. We're in a golden age of Pearl Jam right now. I'll take every opportunity I can get to see them.

I understand people feel it's the golden age, but without the creative juices flowing you fall into being a band living in the past. They have wowed me in every album, even me least favorite. Don't want to lose that for another tour or shows.

You should boycott all shows until they release new music.

    Boycott means I am protesting.

Choosing not to because I am disinterested is a better description.

They are better than just cruising for 4-5 years without new music.

    You should feel the same.

Celebrating a HOF induction with a couple extra shows is not cruising without new music.

Unfortunately Bon jovi is playing msg twice around the same time as the hall of fame ceremony. Not sure where pj could play unfortunately.

They were cruising without new music at Fenway and Wrigley.
Ignoring their prolific song writing early on and than saying this is not cruising would be ignoring reality.

Live music is my favorite thing in this world and they are my favorite by far, but I want something new. Bash me if you want.

    No bashing here. Just disagreement.
