Sanders is a ranking member of a MINORITY coalition. He has no power to block anything! The Chairman of the committee -- which he could have been had Clinton won -- decides which bills go to the floor for a vote based on the MAJORITY opinion.

Like I said, get a clue. I'm not on any high or low horse. I'm just stating the facts of how government works. Of course Bro would issue such a statement. That's what politicians do -- issue statements. But just saying it does not make it so.

Warren is probably the most likely today but the election is four years away. Who knows what will happen between now and then. The Dems need to find multiple qualified and intriguing candidates. They can't just decide beforehand whose turn it is to run. Let them have a legitimate primary contest where the voters truly decide who the nominee will be. Let that be the ultimate lesson of 2016.

The reason this election turned out like you did is because the democratic party ensured that Hillary would win it. And she didn't. Bernie Sanders had a better chance of beating Trump and you know it.

I think everyone agrees Bernie would have crushed trump top to bottom.
    No, everyone doesn't agree.
Old people voted in large numbers and old people hate the word "socialist".
There is no evidence, aside from early polls that you don't believe in, to suggest that Sanders would have won.

Forget Dems, open up field and allow 3rd party candidates! This country's voters - more and more - are LEAVING the corrupt 2-party system. Just look at Sanders' legacy. Voters want CHANGE. And we have to work for that.

Why would anyone be so naive as to suggest that the Democrats need to shift even further to the left with Warren as the candidate to win the next election? Do any of you know anything about how politics work? The progressive movement, already on its death's door, has been decapitated with this election. Warren can't save it.

It's not about Trump and this one election. Conservatives -- the really hard core ones -- have succeeded at infiltrating every level of government from the state governors' mansions to the federal Supreme Court after a generation of slow, steady plotting while nobody was even looking. This really was *the* election to win. It's done for us for at least another generation. Maybe when the freaking millenials actually grow up and learn some things about how government works, they'll take it back, but damn do they have a lot to learn before that happens.

For now, we're stuck with the Paul Ryans of the world who were groomed as Young Republicans 25 years ago by Newt Gingrich, et. al, with a copy of Ayn Rand's Fountainhead under their arms. That shit worked. Look at us now. Where we are today can be traced back one election at a time since 1990. Google it and you will understand what I know to be true.

It's true, BernieBros need to realize this election was a massive repudiation of liberalism. Not just a rebuke in the short term, the consequences of a majority GOP government in all branches will be a generational setback.
BernieBros thought that Trump couldn't win so they set out to tear down the only chance they had at maintaining progress that was always tenuous.

ya ... not sure why people aren't willing to see the obvious ... trump's win in the rust belt (areas Sanders was highly popular and obama won the last 2 elections) was the anti-trade and anti neo-liberalism policies ...

his message clearly resonated with both the disenfranchised and youth ... of of whom decided not to come out and support clinton ...

agree. Bernie won the rust belt in the Dem primary. not saying he would've beaten Trump but he wouldn't have lost all three states.
remember- Hillary was put over the top by the southern African American vote that ended up being inconsequential in the General Election.
    DNC fucked up.

There is no way to know for sure that Sanders would have won. This morning I tend to think he would have, but it's far from a sure thing. We never saw what Trump and the Republicans going after him full-time looked like. We never saw Socialism become a buzz word in the campaign. We don't know what skeletons they may have found in his closet. At the same time, he didn't share Clinton's historic negatives. He wasn't the subject of an active FBI investigation. And he wouldn't have suffered from the enthusiasm gap that killed her in the end.

True, I think you would have seen more turnout for bernie than obama 08, thats 7 million more votes, just my opinion.

As long as you use the term BernieBros, it shows your ignorance. The Democratic Party, rather your Democratic Party ruined it.

And saying Hillary equals progress is laughable. She defined "more of the same". Not progress.

absolutely for sure there is no guarantees ... but objectively looking at the results - it seems highly likely ... the disenfrachised and the youth put trump in the white house ... both groups that Bernie had significant support ... blaming bernie supporters for a trump win speaks to the level of rationality amongst hilary supporters ...

You BernieBros are Icarus, and you brought everyone down with you.
    Still upset, huh.
Yeah, I am upset. Upset that dipshit BernieBros helped to get Trump elected.
Upset that folks who hated Clinton more than they love progress just set us back a generation.
As long as you use the term BernieBros, it shows your ignorance. The Democratic Party, rather your Democratic Party ruined it.

And saying Hillary equals progress is laughable. She defined "more of the same". Not progress.
I didn't use the term BernieBros until you started posting here with your insane rigged election/Trump is working for Clinton talk.

More of the same equals slow progress, are you saying there was no progress under Obama?
Your boy Trump, he is the death of that painfully slow progress.

absolutely for sure there is no guarantees ... but objectively looking at the results - it seems highly likely ... the disenfrachised and the youth put trump in the white house ... both groups that Bernie had significant support ... blaming bernie supporters for a trump win speaks to the level of rationality amongst hilary supporters ...

    Agreed.

Getting Hillary voters out meant getting more Democrats elected down ballot. With more Hillary voters, we had a chance at the Senate, which would have put Bernie in charge of the budget, THE MOST POWERFUL SEAT IN CONGRESS. Sorry you fools are so God damned blinded to see that.

    Like it or not...
    In a binary system, you are a 1 or a 0.
    You were a zero.
You campaigned actively against 1 and that means you campaigned actively for 0.

It's one thing that you didn't understand before, but it is sad that you don't get it now.

the best thing about Trump winning is that "experience" card is basically thrown out the window ... never believed in it anyways but at least now we can say it's irrelevant ...

Forget Dems, open up field and allow 3rd party candidates! This country's voters - more and more - are LEAVING the corrupt 2-party system. Just look at Sanders' legacy. Voters want CHANGE. And we have to work for that.

The field is open, anyone can run ... just that the democrats and republican seem to have a strangle hold on the system and they do this by outspending everyone in an election...basically controlling the elections because they essentially work for the special interest who donate millions and millions...

Sad but money controls the politicians today...on both sides.
