I hate to laugh at my American Jamily but the funnest thing about election night was when the Canadian Immigration site crashed shortly after the results came in.

It's sad, so many would bail when things don't go how they want.
How is it sad exactly? I had no choice where I was born. It reminds me of what the great comedian Bill Hicks said... " I got asked, “Are you proud to be an American?” I, I dunno, I didn’t have a lot to do with it! My parents fucked there, that’s about all…. I hate patriotism, I can’t stand it, man, it makes me fucking sick. It’s a round world, last time I checked, okay? Y’know what I mean? I hate patriotism."

If people want to say fuck this place and try some place else, I'm all for it. Maybe having an orange reality show idiot as your leader is the straw that broke the camel's back for some. So not exactly sure how wanting to bail out of someplace most had no choice in being born into is a bad thing? It's not bailing when things don't go your way... it's seeing the trajectory of this sinking turd. Force-fed your entire life that you're the best, but eventually time and personal experience tells you otherwise. That orange idiot is the perfect representation of this country... stupid people with short attention spans filled with hate and arrogance. We're loud, obnoxious and tacky. Another late great comedian's words: It just seems to me that only a really low I.Q. population could've taken this beautiful continent, this magnificent American landscape that we inherited.... well, actually we stole it from the Mexicans and the Indians, but... hey... it was nice when we stole it.
It looked pretty good. It was pristine. It was Paradise. Have you seen it lately? Have you taken a good look at it lately... It's FUCKING EMBARRASSING. Only a nation of unenlightened halfwits could've taken this beautiful place and turned it into what it is today.... A Shopping Mall. A BIG FUCKING SHOPPING MALL. That's all we have here folks. That's all we've got left... Mile after mile of mall after mall; many, many malls. Major malls and mini-malls. They put the mini-malls in between the major malls. And in between the mini-malls they put the mini-marts. And in the between the mini-marts they put the car lots, gas stations, muffler shops, laundry mats, cheap hotels, fast-food joints, strip clubs, and dirty bookstores. America the Beautiful. One big transcontinental commercial cesspool. And how do the people feel about all of this? How do the people feel about living in a transcontinental shopping mall? Well, they think it's JUST FUCKING DANDY!

    1. America will be alright. We have faced far bigger issues in this world, specifically, in this country than this "disaster" and we came out alright. The main problem with this country is its people, not who the President is. A great Norwegian lady once said.. "Let it go". Keep on moving. Prettyyy sure regardless of what everyone says, he is YOUR/MY/OUR President. Read that again.. Now live with it. Instead on focusing on that, maybe do things that could actually unfuck this country and positively affect other people's lives

    2. I'm not trying to be rude but I hope this thread gets moved to AMT. Thought The Porch was people's happy place away from this stuff

So am I. Not because of current events, though. Guess I need to learn to respond properly, but I am directing my comments towards some of the comments that followed the initial thought.

So much for an experimental album I hoped for. This will be another angry rocker when it comes out ;)

Yeah, no Pearl Jam mark 2. We'll have to settle for more of the angry mark 1 style. Damn. :)

If that's the attitude, then sure, leave, but don't come back after his term is up. You either be the change you want to see in the world and fight for it any way you can or you walk away and never look back. Who wants to waste their time dealing with someone who only wants to be there in good times, but splits when the going gets tough? And, it's not even tough yet!
    It's a hopeless situation...

The same folks vilified Romney and McCain. There is no republican that wont be called a racist or misogynist or homophobe. Just the way it works. Trump is the most liberal republican you could have hoped for socially. Every candidate runs to be elected and gets elected to govern. Everyone is free to leave if they dont like the system. Bernie got screwed out of the nomination but he would lost bigger. We aren't a democratic socialist country. We are a representative republic. We voted, Trump won. The pedulum will swing in the other direction at some point and a house or both of the legislative will turn blue. This isnt unique despite all of the histrionics. Ive voted on the losing side many times. The republic is stronger than any one candidate or any one congressional make up. Those old dudes that set this thing up were pretty sharp.

This - I said this when all the Tea Party folks complained that Obama would destroy the country and I'll say it to folks on my side of the spectrum this time. If our country is so fragile that one person can destroy it we have bigger problems. That said, I am concerned we're on a path to a country I, personally, do not want, but in the big picture, it's not about me.

Yep..its hard to step back and view it all in a historical perspective. Veterans day is a great time to remove the emotion of whichever side we are on and appreciate, in comparison to the other countries in the world now and throughout history, what a just and generous nation we are. All countries have their mistakes and blemishes, but this country has done a pretty good job overall. We should feel good about that.

The same folks vilified Romney and McCain. That may be true, but I wasn't one of them, and Trump was vilified for very different reasons. Is that where we're at in 2016? Do we just assume that every character flaw is a fabricated, slandering attempt on behalf of the opposing party and media? This is a serious question, by the way. Hillary was obviously, equally vilified.

There is no republican that wont be called a racist or misogynist or homophobe. FALSE. McCain was/is none of the above (for all I know). Actually seems like a very reasonable guy. I might have even voted for him in other years. Also appreciated Keyes and Huckabee once upon a time. Both would have been fine choices for the nomination. What were they? Too moderate?

Trump is the most liberal republican you could have hoped for socially. FALSE
Bernie got screwed out of the nomination TRUE but he would lost bigger probably, but who knows.
The republic is stronger than any one candidate or any one congressional make up. I hope so

The whole thing stinks to high hell

The weeks & days leading up to it, the coalition they needed to pull it off, the asshole FBI Director who should be jailed himself but won't cause new AG nasferatu I mean Giuliani won't do shit., Conservatives all of a sudden don't mind KGB Putin, blatant racism etc etc.

I'm pretty annoyed with the lefts notion that " we got this in the bag" complacency. Lost (2) elections because of being cute. Plus putting Clinton out there?? Only have ourselves to blame. That was stupid, the hate for the Clintons should have been considered. I think most of it is unfounded, but she got her hand caught in the cookie jar too many times.

Please all you protesters out there, if u know someone protesting with u didn't vote... TURN THEM IN. Figuration not literally..... insane

I know for a fact that went down and is going down....oh democracy democracy....futility futility

Can't us Americans be happy that we have such an awesome country that allows us to elect our officials? If things don't work out in these 4 years we can elect someone new :) I'm always optimistic and will give anyone a chance! I voted for neither but will now support Donald because he's the president of the most awesome place in the world!!

    No honestly,
If someone came on to the PJ forum for their first time the first place they go to is the Porch (rightly so).
To be blindsided by a shit thread is not what they would expect.

Instead of calling other members threads "shit threads" and try to be the decider on what that belongs here and not, just stay out of the threads instead.

I think people coming into the forums can look out for themselves, and shouldn't have to stumble upon rude people like yourself.

Any non-member coming for a look about Pearl Jam and their music should not have to click on this thread and find this shit.
    Move it to AMT.

For once, I agree with you, it should move to AMT. No need to call it shit. Respect and kindness is lacking around here a lot lately.

Hopefully said non-member(s) stays away from reading most of the hate being spewed on that forum by a few not to be mentioned members...
This whole election fallout is what I am referring to when I call it shit not the OP and the people in this thread.
The OP started this thread w/ his outrage of the election results and then edited it to something else.
The thread title is oddly out of place on the Porch and seems fitting for AMT is what I am saying.
