Let's 'retrack' Lightning Bolt!

Let's 'retrack' Lightning Bolt. It's my least favorite album, and I know I'm not alone ;)
So, what would you do with it? You can delete songs from the tracklist or add some outtakes like: 'Olé' or 'Off the Earth'.

1. Pendulum
2. Infallible
3. My Father's Son
4. Mind Your Manners
5. Getaway
6. Lightning Bolt
7. Sirens
8. Swallowed Whole
9. Off the Earth
10. Yellow Moon

Wow. I think this record is soo much better now :)

Record store single 7'' release:
A- Sleeping by Myself
B- Future Days

and another one:
A- Let the records play
B- Olé

Or just save those tracks for Lost Dogs II. I don't care.

You nailed it! Gonna make a playlist and have a listen. What version of Of the Earth do you suggest?

    Like the record a lot.
If I were able to make a swap, though, I would be fine with My Father's Son being replaced by Of The Earth and Yellow Moon being thrown in the scrap pile next to Ole. Yellow Moon only finishes ahead of Parachutes for me at the bottom of Favorite PJ Songs

Really? Yellow Moon is a top 5 LB song to me. For 'Off the earth' I was kinda assuming that a studiorecording only would fit the record

My Fathers Son and Yellow Moon should never be taken off LB. But Of the Earth added with Cold Confession and Let it Ride would be nice.

I dont see Cold Confession or Let it Ride fitting on LB at all. Nothing can help that mess of an album.
Put either or both of those on Avocado and that would have made a very good record already possibly one of their best.
And so you see, I have come to doubt

Cold Confessions only fits Avocado for sure...man that song should have made an appearance on that album

Not a fan of Let It Ride

this band has definitely left some good songs on the cutting room floor

I could also do without LTRP. It's pretty bad. And SBM doesn't fit in. But without those four, if they were replaced by four good songs that fit the overall feel better, it would be a really good album. Lol, so basically change 1/3 of it. ;)

If we're splitting hairs, "Of the Earth" isn't from the Lightning Bolt sessions, neither were the two not to be named songs and "Olè" was (I think) from Backspacer sessions.
Then again I'm diagnosed OCD and maybe the only one who cares.

completely forgot about SBM. That's actually the one track on there that I would be pleased the most if it was gone.

I didn't really get the comments of those songs being on there either. they wouldn't fit.

They should release an Of The Earth EP, with every studio attempt they've made to record it. Maybe it would be a full length. I wonder how many times they've tried it?

I'd leave Sirens off. Wish is would've been buried in Anarctica. Fine with everything else the way it is.

I'm almost certain I've read it was tracked during both the self titled album and Backspacer sessions.

'Off the earth' was recording during both the S/T and Backspacer sessions. Brendan O'Brien said it was not tried in the Lightning Bolt sessions. He also said that 'Pendulum' was recorded during Backspacer sessions. Olé was recorded at the first LB sessions. Both 'Cold Concession' and 'Let it Ride' were only recorded during S/T sessions and with a different producer. So, Olé is definately a LB outtake. 'Off the Earth' was also recorded with Brendan for Backspacer, and like 'Pendulum' should have been on LB :)

I often listen to my own pared-down version of LB which consists of the following:

    1) "Swallowed Whole"
    2) "Getaway"
    3) "My Father's Son"
    4) "Yellow Moon"
    5) "Infallible"
    6) "Pendulum"
    7) "Sleeping By Myself"

It is just stunning that after 4 years SBM, Future Days, and LTRP made an album. Not a fan of Sirens but can't argue with the popularity amongst the masses.

I force myself to listen to LTRP and SBM if it ever comes up during the shuffle.
Those songs are like most of Riot Act minus Green Disease.
Pearl Jam has been around too long to experiment w/ their fans.
    Sirens is great.
