Pearl Jam/Foo Fighters 2017 Europe tour

This was a big rumor around the beginning of the tour and with no new pj album in what will be 4 years, no new foo album in what would be 3 years could it be we see tours from both? or even combined? 3-4 years seems to be the going rate for album releases for them over the past few drops.

Maybe some festivals together but they won't do a co-headlining tour. They each sell enough tickets to do arenas/stadiums on their own.

How bout both them touring separately? They would never Co headline but the time is right for both of them to drop albums and tour

I wouldn't complain if we got some new albums from both bands. PJ does seem to have slowed down with album input, but next year would be the 4 year mark, which is about the same length of time as between Backspacer and L.B.

Since late 2015 - around the time of Global Citizen - they had around a year off of touring prior to that show ;)

    The new album is done

This would contradict everything the band has said so far about recording, or even writing or demoing a new record. Everything they had said until at least the end of the spring tour (not sure if they made any comments during the summer shows) was that they haven't started doing anything yet for a new record.

What did we know about Lightning Bolt when it came out? I can't remember it was so long ago ;)

What did we know about Lightning Bolt when it came out? I can't remember it was so long ago ;)

The band was in the studio sometime in 2011 which yielded about half of Lightning Bolt and Ole (Ole was released Sept 2011, so we knew they had been in the studio) and it was pretty well documented through media (Billboard, Rolling Stone, Spin) that they did a few weeks in the studio spring 2013 to finish the record. I'd imagine Ed's back injury in early 2012 threw a wrench in whatever plans they had for recording and touring that year, including having to reschedule his solo tour.

But media had reported on both the 2011 session and 2013 session. And during this time the band had done their usual generic interviews saying they were about half way done, didn't know where the finish line was, etc.

I don't even need a new album anymore. Saw Mumford and Sons in Phx last week, played for less than 1:45 mins total. We're spoiled. After hitting both Wrigley shows and that energy with no album, tour away boys, whenever, we'll be there.

PS touring only for a new album seems so old right now. No old lady is buying Lightning Bolt out of the blue. Somebody hears about Pearl Jam they buy Ten or greatest hits album first. Is what it is.

I really don't understand this whole thought process that a band needs an album to support in order to tour. PJ has puhlenty of material to draw on. They don't NEED to make a new album. It would be cool if they did but I think at this point they could get away with touring indefinitely without any new material.

I agree that PJ doesn't need an album to tour behind but I do think Lightning Bolt did bring a lot of fans or perhaps the better economy did because venues that were 75% full on the 2010 tour were full in 2013.

No reason for FF and PJ to tour together unless they play much bigger venues in ever city. $$$

I completely agree with this. I was expecting to be blown away but I was just kinda like "that was pretty good and shit".

The show I went to was an All-Star affair concert for Dave Grohl's birthday last year at the LA Forum before they took off on their world tour. It was cool seeing all of his guests but when it came down to it the whole thing was just ok.
