Gaps between tracks on bootlegs?

Is it normal to have a pause between each track? I just downloaded the South Carolina show and there is a gap between each track

I downloaded the nugs.net app and downloaded the show. I then put it in itunes and I'm getting the gaps between tracks.

My Telluride download has gaps, but none of the others I've downloaded from this tour have them.

I think it is an itunes issue. Which is upsetting. I got a new computer and had to reinstall itunes. I have a ton of live albums and now they are sporadically playing gapless.

Gaps are not a random thing, folks.. mp3 tracks have silence at the start and end of each file, that cause the gaps you're talking about.
Lossless flac/hd flac don't have this issue, and so they will play gapless if burned on cd (or dvd, for hd flac)..

Some players support gapless playback regardless of format. I wouldn't be surprised if iTunes isn't one of them, but then I haven't used iTunes in a decade because of stupid shit like that.

With mp3 it just requires a bit more work to buffer sequential tracks. Portable devices have battery life as an excuse to not do this. Desktop programs have no excuse but laziness.

I have 1000+ live shows on my portable drive in mp3, alac, flac, etc. - the live mp3s are setup to play gapless when they were originally created (either by the band or the taper). Unless in the case of itunes - it doesn't always work properly, but it definitely is not just an mp3 thing. It was never really a problem before. Just with the new itunes - it doesn't seem to be working properly.

As of iTunes 12, all songs are automatically tagged as gapless. iTunes has supported gapless for a long time as an option.
