Bringing 3 Generations to Wrigley. Don't it Make it You Smile!

PJ has always had a great influence on me. I'm really excited to finally bringing my nine year old son, Jack to his first PJ concert. He loves going to shows and has been looking forward to our trip to Chicago. His favorite song is the Fixer. His first exposure to PJ was as an infant. I used to play Release when he would wake up at night and sing to get him back to sleep. It took on a whole new meaning when I became a father.

The first verse reminds of a child waking up in a nursery alone and cold.
"Oh dear dad" made me reflect what it must have been like for my father to have me and how I had become a father, like him.
"I'll wait up in the dark" is in reference to my son waiting for me to comfort him in the night.
Jack still refers to Release as, "the song you used to sing to me".

I had extra tickets so I decided to bring my dad, Dan, to the show. I remember him in high school saying that PJ reminded him of the music they used to play when he was a teen. Music that had a message with the backdrop of rock and roll. He's retired now and looking to do more exploring in life so he was all in when I invited him. We are sharing a great weekend together in Chicago and making fun memories.

Although both Jack and I would love to hear Release, I know it was already played on the Saturday show. I think Smile best represents the great time we are having together. Would be great to hear a dedication to Jack, Josh, and Grandpa Dan.

Sure! Jack has actually been to two PJ concerts in utero so technically not his first time.

Hi. I am smiling as i read this. I sat next to your dad on the train out of the city. I was quite surprised when he sat down and we struck up a convo about the shows and the family affair. I was really jealous of you all. My dad is gone but i always wonder if he would have ever appreciated a PJ show. I could tell your dad really enjoyed himself and the band. He seemed like a really cool guy, which im sure you are already aware... I have 3 kids myself, and i cant wait to share these experiences with them. Just wanted to let you know i ran into your dad and assure you he had as good of a time as you did (even though he missed out on masters and patriot on sat ;)). Cheers from IA and keep on RITFW.

That's awesome. He found a website collection of fan YouTube videos of the concert. Got this email this morning, "Re-living it. Son-of a-bitch, I want to go again. Guy beside me on the train said he heard they were making a video of the concert. Said the band all had the same clothes on both nights."
