I've been thinking a lot about this song lately. I will be at both shows at Wrigley and taking the whole week off to use up vacation that I seem to never be able to take. Last year I gave back over 2 weeks vacation. My company just merged with another one and I will find out that week if my position is eliminated. 12 years at this company and countless personal sacrifices made to help build my career. Including moving at their request 600 miles away to help rebuild a floundering region. They've been announcing who stays and who goes from the top down and it's becoming clear that at least in my region, the other company is the one making the decisions. I've finally gotten to a place where I'm comfortable enough to know I will be ok if the car breaks down, or someone in my family gets sick. And I could afford a trip or 2 to see Pearl Jam. That could all go away with a phone call on the way back from Wrigley field. The more I learn about the merger the more sold out I feel. I know people have it a lot worse than me so I wouldn't actually request to hear a song, and honestly, it wouldn't be my first choice if I were to be able to pick one. But it would definitely hit close to home if they played it one night.
