Bring Lollapalooza back out on the road. Was there for I, II, & III.
Living in Chicagoland, I say leave it here. Perfect setting and accessible from many different means of travel.
I'm extremely biased but best city in the U.S. from May to October, all other months, I curse my kin for dropping me in this place. LOL
You are not wrong there. It is thanks to Lolla that I discovered Chicago and how great it is. If Pearl Jam comes back to Lolla I'd go. Not interested in Bonnaroo - not a camper and I'm a fan of beds and showers.

With only 11,500, that is one I might actually enjoy a bit more. Not crowded at all ... not sure how hot it gets though. Maybe very, in the summer.
At that elevation it won't be above 80 degrees and the relative humidity will be about 15%, and not a bug in sight. The sun is intense but it isn't hot.
Do you know that from experience (assuming yes, but...)? I'm just wondering because I go to Whistler in the summer and it is fucking broiling despite the elevation.
Yep, I lived in Vail/Beaver Creek for 7 years which is about 1500 ft lower. In my opinion, there is no better climate anywhere. But bring good sunscreen, I got roasted a few times in situations just like the festival. You don't get "hot" so you don't realize you are burning.
Festivals were a nice experience at the age of discovery. Now, not so much because you have to deal with all the crap you know is coming. Pearl Jam comes on, plays, and leaves. The rest of us are stuck in a dump once the music stops.
I don't like festivals. I tolerate them if I need to go to one to see Pearl Jam. Having to watch Beady Eye perform right before Pearl Jam at BDO in 2014 was one of the most painful things I've ever had to do
Don't let me ruin your enthusiasm though
Yeah, but seeing Arcade Fire on the second stage just prior to Pearl Jam was awesome!!! (imo)
Arcade Fire could have headlined a date at just about any other US festival at that time, but was opening for Pearl Jam? Unreal!!!
My wife and I were able to catch them in both Sydney & Adelaide, and still make it over for PJ right up near the rail with relative ease (without any pushing to get up front)

Same with me. I had my PJ festival experience with the 2012 Music Midtown Festival in Atlanta

The Ride will only have 11K ppl, if it sells out. That's less than all their other shows so far this tour right. Plus with the setting it's gonna be real intimate. Trying not to get my hopes up for this show, but there's a big part of me thinking something special is gonna happen.
actually Hampton was a little smaller (less than 10k), but still the Ride is not many compared to a 5 stage, 45k throng of dusty or just plain dirty 20 somethings.
I'm in for The Ride. I think this show is going to be really amazing. There aren't a shit load of other huge acts on the bill so most folks are going to be there for P J and the venue is gorgeous. Having seen P J at Red Rocks this is the closest we are ever going to get to that experience again. All the cities start to feel the same after awhile........this will be different.
BonnarooooOOOOOooo! i can't wait to get back for my 9th trip to the Farm. Does it get to hot, yeah but it's a sacrifice i'm willing to make. Between the wife and i our tastes in music are widely varied, and Roo checks off everything in one weekend.
I'm hoping after this years round of festival shows, the notion of the "festival set" is dead and buried. Jazzfest was a nice start, and their Bonnaroo 2008 set is anything but a greatest hits show. If you want to pay a little more they do offer single day packages that include a ticket and a bus ride to and from Nashville.
If anyone is looking for a good festival... you have to try Festival D'Ete in Quebec City, Canada!
11 days of music and you get into any show for 90$
Don't want to camp...you don't have to...rent an apartment for dirt cheap within the city. You can visit the city during the day and hit a show every night. No long lines, Beer is cheap, and pretty much anything goes!
This year there is no PJ (bummed) .. but Sting and Peter Gabriel will be on stage one night, Red Hit Chili Peppers another night,... it's a different theme every night.
Can't beat it for the money. ..and they are totally chill.....
