Listening to the albums: headphones or loud speakers?

As I'm listening to the albums on my ipod through headphones, I'm catching things I don't know that I've heard before (I know, bad fan, I'm listening to 20+ year-old albums at the moment, working through them all, lol).

So, which option do you prefer to get the most from your listening experience, headphones, or just crank the volume on the speakers?

Headphones, in large part because it makes for the best stereo separation, in my opinion, lol.

I cannot decide, I love the intimacy and revelations headphones give of PJ (Yield is a whole different album with the cans on), but sometimes I just want my whole body to shake from the power of the instruments and vocals. I have not had the PJ brown note yet, but damn I won;t care when it happens!

Just finished Yield, and it truly is a beautiful piece of work, sounding as good today as it did when it came out.

As an aside, it still stuns me listening to the band mature and improve over each release.

Another vote for headphones. I never fully appreciated Riot Act until I listened through the cans.

I just don't like being tethered to something, and wireless headphones don't sound as good.

I have hearing loss. Can hear more detail with headphones. Goes for bootlegs as well.

My bad, sorry, should've considered that option at the outset, lol. A more than acceptable write-in on the ballot, lol.

Have to admit, I'm actually a bit surprised at the results so far (though should I be? There's really no wrong answer, it's all a matter of personal taste, lol). Headphones are sitting at 60% at the moment.

    Thanks everyone for voting!

Definately speakers, especially since I bought the new vinyl player + speakers. Nothing beats cranking the volume really high, take a comfortable seat in the sofa, pour up a glass of wine and spin a vinyl record.

I play vinyl only at work too, but there I have to use headphones not to disturb my colleagues. So since I play my music both ways I can easily choose what I prefer.

    Headphones!
After listening to Binaural over and over through earphones, I began to backtrack through other records and found how great a producer Brendan o Brian is, yield, no code, backspacer just an amazing sound. With good headphones I could distinguish the parts I would have overlooked otherwise, with mike in my left ear and stone in my right...the structure of the songs can be appreciated. Saying that with my mates Vs on full volume gets the weekend started...intro to go...and we're away!
