Fake Poster?

Just got a Philly 4/29 poster from eBay in the mail. I believe it is a fake as it does not have the "Official Pearl Jam Event Poster" sticker on back. Can anyone confirm that all posters sold at show should have sticker?

    Can't 100% say they all have them, but they should. The ones I've got at shows this year as long as the AP's all have the hologram #'ed round sticker.

    That's where the sticker should be.....almost looks like it was scanned and copied, and that is how the hologram sticker was picked up by the printer.

    I am really confused. The two skeletons on the front are glossy, as expected. But a grey circle where the sticker belongs? If someone spends that much effort to make a fake and makes the front parts glossy, why not remove the grey circle from the copy.

    That is the $100 question with me as well. Not saying it's fake or not. But with today's printers, anything is possible.

    Sent an email to eBay/seller, 10c and Emek.
    My wife is a graphic designer and she says if it is a fake, it is a good fake. Definitely not a digital print.

    We complain about the price of gas but will pay $25 for a sticker?

    OP, Let us know, please. I hope that it is a genuine poster. I'm an artist. I hate when people sell counterfeit items. They don't realize or care what design work and artistic process goes into those things. Makes me sad. :frowning:

    I'm pretty sure they started utilizing the stickers because of the ever increasing ability to counterfeit, and has zero to do with flippers

    The glossy characters are interesting to me, im not sure how they were originally applied and i assume hard to fake the print because of them? But if its not a fake I can't figure out why there would be that grey circle instead of the sticker?

    Like someone else said it seems really quick for a fake to be out there. When did you order it? When was the auction setup? To receive it today on 5/4 you probably bought it on the 1st or 2nd? Someone got a fake done in 2 days? Seems unlikely.

    I bet the seller took it off cause he or she is flipping and thought it would be a smart move, but in fact is a dumb move cause of these sorts of questions which I would totally be asking too.

    The stickers are numbered (I think, not sure mine are still flattening so I can't be bothered to check) theoretically I could see someone who is an active member of the community think that the number could be traced back to them, for example if one were buying an S/N AP off Emek's website and it's an edition of 100, it's conceivable that they'd keep a record of what person bought which number and then blacklist the names whose corresponding poster # turned up on EBay the day after the sale. So if it's someone who regularly buys prints, maybe removing the sticker is to prevent that from happening?

    None of that would make sense for a show edition poster however. I do think it's more likely that the print just didn't get the sticker placed on it. I used to mail invoices at a previous job and they were stamped with postage by being run through a machine, say 30 envelopes at a time, and every now and again one would slip through without being stamped. I think something similar could've happened here.

    Hi. I just checked mine poster - purchase on site around 1.30 pm from the merch truck - it DOES NOT have the stciker. does it mean they sold fake posters on site? or the sticker was missed somehow? anyone else have Emek without sticker???

    whew, that would be crazy if someone was replicating them with that much detail. Gonna go have to check mine, if I remember right I think it did have a sticker. (bought inside venue)
    Wouldn't it be funny if the world ended in 2010, with lots of fire?

    I saw a guy buy a poster at this same show and he checked the back and the hologram was gone, likely had fallen off or was not firmly stuck to poster. He was given another one at merch table only because he noticed right away. That poster is real but the hologram must have fallen off.

    I'm not the one to ask, I don't think it does, prevents fakes and gives their opinion on flippers at the same time I guess.
