The 2006 Tour was PJ at its PRIME...

Every boot I have listened to from this tour has been incredible... I don't know if it's the mix (perfect) or just an example of the band at it's prime... The setlists are punch-you-in-the-face awesome... Ed's voice was great, band was just firing on all cylinders.... just absolutely ripping it... was listening to the Camden boot on the way to work and the hairs on my arm were tingling ;-)...

Not to say that current stuff is better or worse but just that the boots from 2006 are so damn good...

IMHO...

Somebody needs to explain to me why they started back to back shows with the same three songs in East Rutherford that tour. Has that been done before in the last 20 years?

I always thought this was weird. My first show was the month after that that had the exact same three opening songs.

OP the 2006 tour is fantastic- Grand Rapids, San Fran run and the Gorge are my favorites.

The 2006 tour was fantastic. Grand Rapids is still one of the best concerts I've ever seen. But... the 1998 Yield tour is when the band was at the peak of it's power. Like Jordan in his prime.
Do you know what it's like to fall in the mud and get kicked... in the head... with an iron boot? Of course you don't, no one does. It never happens. Sorry, Ted, that's a dumb question... skip that.

Great set lists and ironically just downloaded the San Diego show yesterday with Ed prefacing Long Road with the story of how much impact Clayton E. Liggett had on Ed's life and how Long Road came to be. Extremely touching story and a great setlist. The Gorge 2006 is my first bootleg and when I first really started to get it with PJ. Plus absolutely love the Avocado/Selftitled album.

Hate to say it, but it might have to do with Avocado being the last great album by this band. Those songs rip live and they mesh well with older songs. I don't know if you can say the same about Backspacer and Lightning Bolt tracks.

Hard to believe that tour is now 10 years old. I was listening to the San Diego boot the other day. Definitely in the top 3 shows I've seen.

OP, thanks for the reminder. I am going to pull out those Camden boots tonight. My first two concerts. These were a few months after I started dating my current wife and I just went along because I was into her, not so much into the band. It was love at first sight in more ways than one.

2006 is the only tour I was happy with the sound at the Boston garden. They always sound phenomenal in Mansfield, and the sound in Worcester was amazing. Those garden shows always sound fuzzy and muddy to me, but in 2006 the sound was pretty good.

I remember at the time lots of fans commenting that the band sounded very tight and well rehearsed. Great tour. Saw them in Albany that year too.

That entire tour was great, but on the second part of the west coast leg and most of Europe they were EN FUEGO.

The 90's was their prime but the songs on Avocado translated really well in the live setting. Life wasted, WWS, and Severed Hand were solid staples right off the bat that brought the energy. They were playing Inside Job almost every night. The even flow solos were fire, some of McCready's best were in 06. I think I favor the 06 boots over 00 and 03 because they had so much diversity at that point. They had so many songs in the rotation and there was so much that they could pull out of their bag of tricks on any given night. The sound on the boots comes in real nice. Crazy how that was 10 years ago.

Yep it's such a simple concept but I can't understand how that your was already 10 years ago

I remember following all the sets in anticipation of my one show- and it was a long wait since it was the last show of the US tour!!!

Totally. It had a couple duds (to me) but the more recent albums just aren't as great.

I like 2003 personally, the bootlegs sound the best and the tour was awesome. But 2006 was very good and the album they were supporting was better.

As far as official bootleg releases go, 2006 is probably my 2nd favorite. There are many great performances here in my opinion: San Fran 3, Torino, Pistoia (Italy were all great), Grand Rapids, and San Diego are personal favorites. Really great tour.

But 2000 still remains the gold standard for me. They were just consistently great on this tour.

Listening to Severed Hand on the Camden boot (or any from the 2006 tour) and you can really feel the power and the tightness of the band... Love how Matt's background vocals are up in the mix... Sounds like Matt and Ed and singing a duet while this freight train of a song is screaming down the tracks... Go > WWS > Severed Hand > Corduroy > Save You.... I could run a marathon from the adrenaline brought on from those songs.... just killer...
