Official Reasons why PJ doesn't play Florida

I was at the MMJ show in Miami last night and was talking with one of their crew members before the show. He alluded to the cost thing as a huge reason bands don't travel to south Florida every tour.
Starting or ending the tour here is the logical thing cost-wise.
I doubt that's the reason for a band as big as PJ though. I just think it's political and of course, the palmetto bugs

I think last time down there gators got on stage and drank Eddie's wine stash.

It has absolutely nothing to do with politics... we are talking about a band that has played a total of 3 shows in Seattle over the last 10 years

Are you saying that's a lot or not enough? 21 years since Miami and the band has only been around for 25 years.

I agree. If it was politics, they never would have come back to Phoenix.

They played in Pensacola FL in 2012. So maybe it's just the rest of the state?

While Pensacola is the birth place of the greatest guitarist out there (Mike McCready), that's more South Alabama than Florida.

That's probably a 10 hour drive from Miami.

This reason goes for the South too. Lots of travel for a smaller fan base

There are 14 million people in Houston and San Antonio.

Exclude Toronto, and that's as much population as the rest of the cities in the last Canadian tour combined... and it's a 2 hour drive....

But I like your logic though... mostly because it's founded in facts.
Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.

They haven't played Miami in 20 years, but they've played WPB many times over that span. Not sure why they haven't been back there since 08 though.

SHHHHH..... it doesn't sound so bad if you say that. But if you say it's been 21 years since they played Miami, people go wow, that's a long time.

And no, Austin and Dallas are not Houston.

this isnt that complicated if you really think about it... they might be the smartest touring band out there right now... small 3 week regional tours in large venues they will mostly sell out with a few festivals sprinkled in to help market your band and finance the tour... the logistics and cost of traveling to Miami to play to a half full arena is probably not a hot selling point when people sit down at the table to discuss upcoming touring strategies...

honestly, i would tour exactly the way pearl jam does... they have this thing down to a science

    Half full arenas?

PJ have played multiple dates in West Palm in the past, play multiple cities in our state, etc...

Hell, they could soon play Cuba and then play Miami (please note Cuba and Miami are not the same place).

    Reason #782

That time Ed got a sunburn on his back and stage dived at the Cameo back in '92.

Ok that wasn't the smartest move, but we have sunscreen now.

Could be they had a bad experience or it could be because Dan Marino never won a Super Bowl. Never, ever. He just couldn't win the big one. Seasons and seasons just squandered away. All for nothing.

Yes, Dan Marino is the reason that Pearl Jam doesn't play Miami.

I was at that show...It started pouring during Garden and it was amazing!!

flying cockroaches that are impossible to kill

Palmetto bugs... the worst. I had a nest of them invade my car one year. Every time I opened the door at night, they would scurry away. I bombed the car like 9x. Couldn't kill him. Ending up junking the car.
