shit, my 64 year old dad has been to 15+ shows with me. got tickets for me and my best friend to Atlanta 1994, night 2 at The Fox, and refused to go with me so my bud could go! did PJ20 together, been all over the country. i hope for your parents' sake, that they change their mind and take in a show! after more than 400 live shows, PJ blows everyone away... i would encourage my ex mother in law to go!! good luck man!

My parents wouldn't be caught dead at a rock concert. Loud noise seems to really mess then up in the heads, lol. My mom can barely even deal with the sound at a movie. SMH.

My parents babysit so I can go  - but there wouldn't be any convincing needed, they'd come if I asked.
Oh please let it rain today.

I haven't asked. I wouldn't ask. My parents dig country. They would watch our daughter for us if we needed. My mom was funny when they found out that we were going to Cincinnati to see PJ. "You've always loved PJ!" Mama knows. She always has.

My mom took me to my first concert...
We saw KISS on the "Destroyer" tour in 1976!!
    To this DAY...
I still think she had a better time than I did :rock_on:
I got to take her to see one of her FAVORITE artists...
Tina Turner on her "Private Dancer" tour in 1984,
and that show will ALWAYS be one of my most cherished memories!!

Age 57 here. Parent who turned both my sons onto PJ. I've been to over 50 shows and the wifey over 20. Nothing cooler than tailgating with your adult kids before a PJ show. For both of their 16th birthdays I got them their own 10C membership. It paid off when they went away to college and could get their own tickets. Only regret is I didn't sign them up at birth!

Dad's first PJ show was at Wrigley. We never left our seats. Even during the rain delay. my dad taught me, always pack a poncho.
We also suffered though 8 hours of Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Fest in sweltering heat & humidity.
My old man had a blast at both. 60 y/o.

    Yep, agreed.

My parents stopped listening to rock and roll in the 1980s, so they definitely don't understand Pearl Jam, and I don't waste any time trying to convince them of why PJ is my favorite band.

My dad went to one of the Camden 2003 shows. I think he liked the people watching and the encores when they played some cover songs that he knew. My oldest brother went with me to my first show in 1998 and my other brother finally saw a show in 2013 with me.

My mom probably wouldn't be able to stay awake by the time PJ hit the stage. A non-starter unless the show started at 7:30 and she left after the first 8 songs.

My dad has never really cared for PJ for some reason. He's been a musician most of his life, has played guitar in many bands and actually still plays today. My mom would maybe go with me, doubt my dad would be very interested.

Yep, same here. My parents always had music playing when we were young, I remember the Beach Boys, Johnny Cash, Peter, Paul and Mary. No doubt that influenced my passion for music, and it being such a part of who I am.

My mom has since passed, but before she did, she realized how much certain music/bands meant to me. She would stay up and watch Letterman, no lie - on my mother's grave, she said "just to see what all the fuss is about" Got to love that. Probably why Habit is one of my favorites to this day.

She was the first one to show me a picture of Ed with his mohawk. I remember we had met up with my parents in Atlantic City for dinner and the first thing she did was pull the picture out of her purse, "isn't this the singer you like"

These memories made me smile, thanks for the thread OP.

I've never really taken my parents to shows. The only time I ever did it was when I took my dad to see The Who. He's a drummer but mostly into Jazz music and stuff. Growing up I did bust him borrowing the odd Soundgarden or Smashing Pumpkins cd to drum to. He dug The Who. I only ever get 2 10c tickets for PJ so I usually take the Mrs. Maybe one of these days I should ask my Dad to go.... lol. My mom's mostly into showtunes and musicals, I'm not sure she'd appreciate a rock concert.

Even if they would go, I wouldn't invite them. Especially not my mom. I'd spend the whole show trying to explain to my mom what Eddie just said and what that meant and why people reacted that way, and what were those lyrics? What was that song? What kind of music genre do I think that song is? Whaaat? I can't understand what he's saying! Etc etc etc. Ugh! Just thinking about it annoys me, ahahaha. I don't want to punch my mom out at a PJ show.:tongue:

Maybe if you took her to a Seattle show and she partook in some legal substance there, she might enjoy the show better... Or maybe she wouldn't stop talking and laughing and you would have to punch her out...

So Mom and Dad, this is how it's going down. We show up early, like waaaay early. We're going to stand in that line for a couple of hours to get a t-shirt and a poster. Then stand in that line to pick up the tickets. Then we will stand in that line to get into the show. That should be a couple more hours. Once we are inside, we shall stand there until they come on stage. Probably a couple more hours. Oh yeah, it's a three hour show for which we will be standing. Who's with me?

My 72 year old Mum came to PJ's show here last year. I was front row, she was up in the stands so I didn't actually see her there but anyway, she was there! I text her when Baba O'Riley started & told her to leave knowing it might be the last song so she'd avoid the mad panic when everyone started leaving. She did leave then, Dad picked her up & she loved it. She didn't even comment about Ed swearing. :nuh_uh:

My dad was the one who got me into PJ. I have luckily been the person to get tickets several times with him over my mom and my brother. All 4 of us are fans but have only been to 1 show together (MSG 1 2008). Usually we are separated since getting pairs are easier than getting 4 together.
