Oh man... what an amazing man. He and his quartette and double quartettes broke into uncharted territory. One of the most innovative giants jazz. Really, really sad to hear about this. :frowning:

I don't always enjoy his free jazz stuff, but I "get" it and appreciate it for what it is. A true giant.

Very sad.. A legend has passed ; living on in our hearts, and performing on our turntables, forever more.

Infamy: the state of being well known for some bad quality or deed.

I thought it was just to be well renowned for an outstanding quality. I meant absolutely NO disrespect.

These guys were so freaking cool:

    Donald Cherry, pocket trumpet.
    Ed Blackwell, drums.
Ornette Coleman, alto saxophone (and later, tenor sax, violin and trumpet).
    Charlie Haden, bass.

Hard to believe it- they're all gone now.
I'm blown away by every piece of music these guys ever made.

    Thank you guys. R.I.P.
