I identify with both songs very strongly but prefer "Nothing As It Seems". Though I'm not surprised to see it losing the poll here.

Nothing As It Seems - it took me less than a second to decide! Release is a great song, but NAIS is in my top 3 all-time PJ tracks (and it's my favourite opener that I've had at a PJ show)
    “Do not postpone happiness”
    (Jeff Tweedy, Sydney 2007)

“Put yer good money on the sunrise”
    (Tim Rogers)

Have to go with Release. Respect the hell out of NAIS, a real step out of what has become lately their "new formula" of making album's. To me it almost has a Pink Floyd feel to it, and I love the "Floyd". But Release has more of the personal feel that I seemed to get with the first 5 album's. Those didn't have to grow on you.And being that I didn't have a real relationship with my dad and never really got a chance at any closure from the situation, it speak's to me on that level. And honestly, Ed's vocal's, along with the perfect musicianship of everyone in the band, just send's me to a whole different place. From the perfect opening chord's on, Release hand's down!

Easy one for me, but that doesn't discredit NAIS, an unbelievable tune as well.

This, for me. Release was mid-pack on Ten for me until I started to appreciate how great it is live.

Agree that Ed's vocals along with the band transport you somewhere else, never experienced it live, but first heard it live on Atlanta 2000 live bootleg I think and just blew me away. Deeply personal on many levels which people can connect. True masterpiece.

Thinking about Wrigley the last few days and remembering the sing a long during Release. It was thunderous. Loudest I've ever heard for that song. Waves of energy flowing through the crowd...a magical moment I'll never forget.
