2000 Official Bootleg Sound Quality

I started today going through my digital collection and purging all my old MP3 boots, because "sound" matters to me now..lol

Well, as I was replacing the MP3s with FLACs of each show, I did a Dynamic Range test on each one. Well, I knew the 2000 shows sounded good...I just had no clue how good. Every show was coming in a DR rating of 13 to 14. (That's DAMN good.) I then wanted to quickly compare shows from other years, and as I kinda already knew they all had DRs ranging from 7-9. I could tell immediately that they were mastered WAY louder.

I only have a few of the HDFLAC shows, but I did an A/B comparison of NAIS from the Ziggo Dome show in 2012 to the Dublin show in 2000...wow no questions which one is better.

Dublin
DR Peak RMS Duration Track
DR16 -0.22 dB -20.13 dB 6:49 07-Nothing as it Seems
Amsterdam
DR Peak RMS Duration Track
DR7 -0.33 dB -9.85 dB 5:16 09-Nothing As It Seems

So if anyone is on the fence about purchasing any of the 2000 shows, don't. They are the best sounding/mastered boots around.. bar none.

Technically I'm sure you're right. But to my ears I like the mix of the 2012 boots better than any other year. This is based on mainly listening to mp3's however.

I agree and DRs numbers support that. I haven't gotten all the way finished with the 2000 set yet, but the american shows do come in at a lower number...around 9-10. But, I still think better than a lot.

Yeah European boots are great for 2000. The US ones are just real dull sounding for some reason.

2003 US tour sounds terrific tho

The mix is great for the 2003s, I just think they are mastered loud.

I don't like 2003. The guitars are nice and crunchy but Matt's drums are buried and lacking any punch. Also have a really "narrow" soundstage. Eddies vocals are annoyingly mid-rangy/boomy.

2000 Europe are nice and clear, but lacking in bass (both the instrument and low-end to some degree). US are better in this regards, but kind of dull sounding overall.
