I'm not expecting to see the second weekend as the Boilers will have to show me the mindset in the program has changed before I put any faith in them. That said, Vermont better find a way to guard Issaac Haas or else they have no shot. A Purdue team that wasn't as good last year beat them by 30.

Had to choose a big upset. I went with Vermont. Undefeated in last 12 games (yes weaker teams, but wins are wins)

Agreed. There's no substitute for a team that knows how to win ball games. I'm pretty sure Vermont has ran the table since the end of nonconference play.

I hope he comes back for one more year, but I don't blame him if he wants to get paid. He is still projected to go late 1st round / early 2nd if he does go pro. That puts him in a 2 year contract between $2M - $2.5M. Or he could stay at Purdue and get free gym shorts!

It'd be nice. I truly think he's a lottery pick if he stays one more year.....and selfishly, I'd love to see it. But 2 - 2.5 M? When you hear the story of his upbringing, I don't blame the kid for taking the money. Although, he is an academic AA - so he obviously takes school seriously. You never know. If he stayed, with the class that's coming next year, I'd definitely be very optimistic.

I do know one thing.....that little testing of the waters that Vince did after last season was a fluke. VE needs to get consistent, and forget about jumping early.....oh, and stop having a token turnover on an entry pass 1-2 times a game.

I've got St. Mary's and E. Tenn St. (considering they're essentially Indiana Lite) in the Sweet 16.

I happen to know the head coach of Kent State, who is playing UCLA in 1st round this year. He happens to be a HUGE Pearl Jam fan. I've been to a bunch of shows with him. He writes "Present Tense" on the board before their games.

Coach is going on Mad Dog Radio tomorrow, either 3:30 or 4:30, not sure yet. In addition to obviously talking about the tourney and his game, he's gonna try and bring up Pearl Jam as Mad Dog is a huge Springsteen fan.

my Final Four: Villanova, Kansas, Kentucky and Arizona
    Finals: Nova over Kansas

Didn't have too many upsets in the later rounds, some in the early rounds. Michigan in the elite 8 was the lowest seed i have going the farthest.

  • For my office bracket I think I'm just going to pick the favored team and have all 1 seeds in the FF. I've always wanted to do that experiment.

Bad choice. Vermont's too small. Although I do have to recognize Purdue's long history of tourney choke jobs. The team is fun to watch and definately one of the best Purdue teams in a long time. I get the same feeling I did from the 87-88 team with Lewis, Mitchell and Stevens.
  • Hardest region to pick for me is Midwest. I don't like Kansas or Louisville or even Oregon with that injury.

The Three Amigos. I was 7. My dad and uncle went to the NCAA tourney game against K-State at the Pontiac Silverdome. I just remember them coming home from the game and talking about how Mitch Richmond couldn't miss a shot, and the rest of the crowd was made up of Kansas fans there to watch Danny and the Miracles.....apparently, they were doing the "rawk chalk" chant for like an hour.

I always take Thursday off and the Friday usually falls on my day off. But yeah, I have zero judgments about wanting to take the day off but just be honest about it.
