So what if they don't do any dates here in 2015 it's not the end of times if they don't ......
True story.
I also don't like this idea of PJ25. And then PJ30. Do they really need to do 'anniversary' shows every few years?
Yes they do!!! And have the pj museum there too!!
I just hate the whole nostalgia thing. PJ20 fine. But then every 5 years is overkill. I just don't see a need for a PJ25. I'm probably in the minority!
Absolutely agree. Especially since their output of new music has slowed. Not interested in anniversaries, reissues, etc disrupting the output of new music. Unfortunately the last ten years the band has been going in the opposite direction.

They've put out 3 albums in the last 9 years. Just how much more music would they have had to release to make you happy?

agreed. last time I checked everyone was about to cream their pants when going to denver last year or philly the year before since they were all "anniversary" shows. i'll happily go to a 25th or 30th anniversary show and celebrate my favorite band with friends. pj20 in alpine was one of my favorite experiences.

It's a bit of a misleading statistic because you starting counting the year they put out an album. One could go the opposite direction at state it's 3 albums in the last 14 years.. lol. I think the posters point was still valid. Up until Riot Act albums were about 2 years apart. Now it's closer to 4 or 5 years between album. It's definitely slowed down.
Since I wasn't around for PJ20 I'll admit I'd like a PJ25 show. Preferably in NY since it's unclear if I'll be able to travel anymore. But realistically, I agree, celebrating every 5 years is beyond tiresome.

But it's still been three albums in the last 9 years.
But no ones answering the question... So how often do they need to put out an album for people not to complain?
I think people's expectations are way over the top around here. These guys are in their 50s now and have families. I'm thankful this band is still together, putting out albums, and touring. The albums might be less frequent but the shows are 3 hours now and have never been better. You guys are a tough crowd to please.

it's kinda like being married. the sex in the beginning was unparalelled and frequent, and as you get older, nothing beats the early years AND the frequency diminishes. it can be frustrating. LOL

Actually 10 years, but who's counting.
My problem isn't necessarily the output, but all the reissues, vaults, documentary, soundtracks, etc in between. In 2003 people here prided Pearl Jam as a band that wouldn't go out and tour unless they had someone new to say, and lik

Perhaps I went about my post the wrong way. I have no problem if production of new music slows down. If the band wants downtime from Pearl Jam that's fine. Don't fill that downtime however with anniversaries when there's been one record between the last anniversary celebration, don't fill downtime with seasonal lines of tshirts, don't fill downtime reissuing music I've already purchased, don't fill downtime selling dog collars.

Just as a point of perspective... there has only been one PJ20 type celebration. The PJ25, PJ30, etc is only mentioned by people here speculating.

I thought PJ10 was a big celebration as it was acknowledged even in the poster? I don't think except for PJ20 that the anniversary was acknowledged in a poster for that/those shows.
I'd agree that celebrating each and every anniversary may be over the top but 25 is considered the "silver" anniversary. I would say 25 years of anything may be just cause to celebrate?

I love the anniversary shows. I have a hell of a time...I don't think we're due for another new album for a bit, so I could see 2016 being a reissue of No Code / Yield + PJ25 somewhere.
Lots of bands don't even make it 5 years together, so I don't see a celebration every five years as overkill. Enjoy it while we can, I only hope I live to see the inevitable complaining about PJ50.
I'd much rather have a good album every 4-5 years than a bunch of rushed, uninspired albums every 2. The guys are getting older. They have families, lives beyond Pearl Jam. Be happy that we get new music at all.
As for a possible PJ25, how is it overkill? 25 is a pretty significant number. No one is saying they have to go "every 5 years" and do PJ30, PJ35, PJ40, etc. But 25 years is pretty special. Plus it's in line with R&RHOF eligibility. Why not embellish it?!
Watching Live at the Garden today has me all... um....yearning for some shows. Please come back! Put us all out of our misery already.

Take a look back at the tour history. not once have they ever done a year without us dates. and the last time they did sa was when pj20 happened. the sa shows arent till november either, we have 8 months between now and then for more dates. and i guarantee more dates.
Is it a plausible thought that Pearl Jam may skip a year in the US to go and tour other locations? 2015 may be the year for SA and Canada.

I've had this exact tour thought going round my head since booking our America trip and our stop in Seattle for The Who. Mostly because it's near the 10 year anniversary of my 1st show (Gorge).
Looking back at 2005 and 2011. Something like this looks extremely likely. If past trends are anything to go buy. Often they are. Plus they seem to be a fan of the "fall" tours.

But realistically, I agree, celebrating every 5 years is beyond tiresome.

All that I once held as true
I stand alone without beliefs
The only truth I know is you.

My problem isn't necessarily the output, but all the reissues, vaults, documentary, soundtracks, etc in between. In 2003 people here prided Pearl Jam as a band that wouldn't go out and tour unless they had someone new to say, and lik Perhaps I went about my post the wrong way.

I'd agree that celebrating each and every anniversary may be over the top but 25 is considered the "silver" anniversary. I would say 25 years of anything may be just cause to celebrate?
Lots of bands don't even make it 5 years together, so I don't see a celebration every five years as overkill. Enjoy it while we can, I only hope I live to see the inevitable complaining about PJ50.

2015 may be the year for SA and Canada.
Looking back at 2005 and 2011. Something like this looks extremely likely. If past trends are anything to go buy. Often they are. Plus they seem to be a fan of the "fall" tours.
