    After some playing with numbers:
    1 correct 1st round pick = 2 points (For a total of 64 possible).
    1 correct 2nd round pick = 16 points (For a total of 64 + 256 = 320 possible).
    1 correct 3rd round pick = 64 points (For a total of 64 + 256 + 512 = 832 possible).

I'm at 530, with 2 of my final 4 out..

    Just calculated.

    I have 554.
I had/have it pretty well nailed. I just had Go beating out Betterman and I thought Cordoroy would Come out of that Region 3.

I have 3 of my 4 final 4 in there with both finalists alive... but too many people to pass.

    FrankieG,

I don't see how this math can be correct as it would impossible to get 316 in the second round as the top score indicates. If the most possible points after 2 rounds is 320, the only way to subtract 4 points is to have two wrong answers after round one. However, if you miss two in round one you automatically have two losers in round two dropping it another 32 points. Also, I am not seeing a pattern here as you multiply the number of points by 8 between rounds 1 and 2 and then by 4 between rounds two and three.

I don't have the answer either, but I am thinking that the seeds and upsets matter..... Maybe there is an "upset multiplier"? For instance, there were 8 upsets in round 1, so assume correct answers were worth 1 pt each and the upset multiplier was 4. This would leave you with:
    32 x 1 + 8 (4 x 1) = 64
In the second round where there were 6 upsets, the points for a correct guess could go to 4 and the upset multiplier to 8, leaving:
    64 + 16 x 4 + 6 (8 x 4) = 320 but if there were an incorrect answer on a non-upset the score would be 316.
I'm not saying this is correct, but it is some food for thought as I believe the 2, 16, and 64 points are not correct. It sure would help if anyone here was on the leaderboard as I am sure I can figure it out if I don't have to make assumptions.

To get 316 points in the second round, you need to have picked all of the round 2 matchups correctly (giving you 256 points) and 30 of the 32 round 1 matchups correctly (adding 60 points). The 2 matchups that you got wrong in round 1 must have not been picked in round 2. So for example, in region 1 If I picked Alive and Infallible in Round 1, and Alive in round 2. I still gain the maximum amount of points for round 2, but lost 2 points in round 1 because Why Go beat Infallible, but also all of my picks are still alive to advance to the next round.

I also tried for about 30 minutes to come up with a pattern for the points and couldn't. I think after the next round, the pattern will work for rounds 2,3,4 and not round 1.

Yes, if anyone on the leaderboard can do the math, or post which ones they got wrong we would be able to figure out the scoring exactly, thats a good idea.

I was just coming back to retract my post as i realized that you could get up to half wrong in round one and still get all of round two correct.... duh... Thanks for the explanation and for being nice about it :) Sorry for my mistake.

I went from joint leader after round 2 to not even close after round 3. I guess that's what happens for getting 4 wrong out of 8!
But Ledbetter over Corduroy? C'mon man!

Yeah, that's insane. I am shocked. I mean, fuck subjectivity. It is a fact that Corduroy is way better than YLB. =)

Sorry to answer for Andy, but yes that must be the correct scoring. I just went to check and I'm actually on the leader board (YAY!) so I can see my score. Using that scoring system and 256 per correct pick last round gives me my score of 1684.

The highest score after the first round was 64.
The highest score after the second round was 316.
The highest score after the third round was 816.
The highest score after the fourth round was 1794.
The highest score after the fifth round was 3796.

    After some playing with numbers:
    1 correct 1st round pick = 2 points (For a total of 64 possible).
    1 correct 2nd round (sweet 16) pick = 16 points (For a total of 64 + 256 = 320 possible).
    1 correct 3rd round (elite 8) pick = 64 points (For a total of 64 + 256 + 512 = 832 possible).
    1 correct 4th round (final 4) pick = 256 points (For a total of 64 + 256 + 512 + 1024 = 1856 possible).
    1 correct 5th round (final 2) pick = 1024 points (For a total of 64 + 256 + 512 + 1024 + 2048 = 3904 possible).

Assuming the trend continues, the last pick is 2048 points, making the first person on this list to have the correct answer the winner (unless there is a tie, which I think is very possible as I expect if you made it this far, you definitely went with Black to win...).
