Was lucky enough to grab the original blue vinyl from a local shop about a year ago. Great album & the bass on "Big Train" is worth the purchase price by itself.

Yes, that's what sold me too - I got it. :) That'll be a really great album to have! I was lucky to see Mike Watt in Missoula the night after the PJ show in 2012. He was amazing!

Well that's embarrassing. It didn't even occur to me to look into the originals.... but anyway, this included shipping, so unless the OG sounds way better than the reissue, no prob. Plus, you get 100+ songs with it too i think??? Or is that just after the shop thing exists? That part's confusing. I guess maybe you don't get that. But it's contributing to the online vinyl pop up shop thing, which sounds cool. So i think it's a decision I can live with. Although I have no idea what that AccessPass is supposed to be. Is it anything?? (still really dumb and impulsive of me to have not looked... I'm usually more careful than that).

Was there any word how many of those blue vinyls were pressed? $30 bucks is a steal, in today's market. I remembered picking it up @ Sam The Record Man for around that much when it was released.

This new reissue is only 2000 pressed. Not sure if it will be colored & not sure if there will be any bonus tracks.

This whole thing really brought my obsession into the spotlight. When I saw that the OG blue ones were so cheap, I actually bought one from discogs, even though I'd just ordered this 20th Anniversary one. image But then, after sleeping on it, I realized how insane and disturbed that was, so cancelled the discogs order (and probably pissed off the seller)...... Is there a support group? image

    Mike Watt

It’s hard to wave a congratulatory flag in place of humble artists who don’t see the need to do it for themselves. But as a fan, there are times when you want to. You want your musical heroes to stand up and take a bow, because you want to applaud them, because you owe them somehow.
We owe them, as they unknowingly created the music that helped you and me the most. It’s a fact that you often need to, because the very best ones will never talk about themselves, or the work they do, because they are too busy working right now to think about back then. When we first approached Mike about reissuing this record, he was in the middle of his typical tour schedule, something like fifty dates in fifty-one days. He said he would think about it. For an artist with such reverence for the past, Mike doesn’t stay there for long. The future is now for Watt, always has been. So we did what any real fan would do. We begged and begged and even said please until everyone gave us an ok. Ok… But it isn’t just ok, because like any real fan, this album is worthy of near obsessive dedication. It will never be, just ok. Honestly, I would question the taste and integrity of anyone who does not love this record. It’s a record that can never happen again, because collaborations like this only happen a couple of times to each generation of artists, and the results are often unpredictable. That Mike was able to curate this extensive list of featured artists, write and perform with them and produce such a cohesive album, is in and of itself worthy of celebration.

    Featuring:

    • Mike Watt – Bass, Lead Vocals, Background Vocals, Spoken Word
    • Dave Grohl – Drums, Lap Steel,
    • Nels Cline – Guitar, Slide Guitar, Lead Guitar, Nylon Guitar
    • Eddie Vedder – Guitar, Lead Vocals, Background Vocals
    • J Mascis – Guitar, Drums
    • Cris Kirkwood – Banjo
    • Curt Kirkwood – Lead Guitar

I emailed them and presented this quote to them and asked where it is (also suggested that I'd like to cancel my order because they haven't met their obligations and that I'd like to just buy the original album elsewhere, since they didn't live up to their end of the bargain). No response! Sent it a good week ago.

They posted fairly recently that it was going to press shortly, definitely not canceled (others were for lack of sales, but not this one), but they are way behind schedule... i don't really expect to see it for months. So i am going to keep bugging them. I want a refund since they haven't fulfilled their pledge. They just keep acting like everything's fine.
