Using Pearl Jam Songs to Teach

Any teachers out there? Has anyone used any songs to teach figurative language or to analyze a poem? I am looking at trying to make my poetry unit more interesting and thought music and poetry would be a great idea. Before I create anything, I thought I would see what others had done.

I will sometimes bring up Pearl Jam during therapy sessions.

I have read many stories about people doing this. The one that I remember was Present Tense, but I think I also remember reading about Black. They would read the printed out poem, picking out the metaphors and talking about all that poetry stuff, and then the teacher would play the song at the end of the class period.

If my teacher did this I would have learned 'all of that poetry stuff' =))

The only teacher that I had who liked PJ was my 11th grade history teacher, and he only liked them until Vitalogy and then stopped listening to them :(

I've found lessons using Audioslave, Katy Perry, and Garth Brooks. Was hoping soneone had used PJ.

I was thinking Oceans could also work well.
