Not really. It's tough. Many people that post on here are the most die hard of die hard PJ fans. They've seen shows in the double digits (if not triple digits) and there's songs they still have never heard live (some of them peoples favorite songs).

There's not many avenues for people to request their holy grails. I'm ok with it. I can always disregard the post. No one's putting gun to my head to read it.

Eh, they're kinda right here. There's another thread it's being discussed in which is obviously flying under the radar. No one needs an actual count of participants. The band is not going to stop or continue based on a poll.

I'm not throwing negativity at you man. Nor have I ever. I'm entitled to not like your polls just like you are entitled to not like song request threads. You get so emotional but it's nothing personal at all.

believe me not emotional one bit, without ever meeting me, you have no idea, we got awesome legal marijuana which I partake of frequently, no reason to get emotional over this shit, it's just music, plus I live in Seattle, not a very emotional place, there is an Even Flow here

I'm just saying not every post that hurts your feelings is someone taking shots at you. I recall your threads before you left temporarily left the forum. You WERE very emotional and acted line everyone was out to get you. Nobody was. And now you've returned as the forum's official pollster. That's fine. You seem to really, really like making polls. But when someone doesn't dig your poll, you shouldn't take it personally.

Oh God someone requested a song, they are taking up valuable real estate on a Message board
    :))

And also not everyone lives on here 24/7...so if they request a song dont jump down their throats for it, they are just excited fans.

Now the ones who bring constant negativity here and still pay dues...now thats some funny shit.

Aside from it just cluttering up the Porch, what I keep thinking about is the pressure all these requests might put on the band. I mean, many of these requests are linked to personal tragedies - the loss of loved ones. The band are really empathetic and care for those who have suffered these kinds of losses, and I can't help but think that these kinds of requests are a weight on their shoulders. If I were a performer who had a bunch of people asking me to dedicate songs to their dead loved ones, many lost under tragic circumstances, I would feel really bad about NOT honouring their requests... but at the same time, would feel that I couldn't do it for most unless every show is a memorial. So really, I guess I'm saying that for the most part it's just too much to ask of them now that there are so many. I mean, some of them seem really appropriate. I.e. the Wrigley dedication - that man's wife was a 10C member. And that other guy's son (where the dedication was the wrong week at ACL)... I think because of the way the guy presented it and poured his soul out in that thread like few can. Plus the loss of a child is something that touches everyone at a deeper level. But, not to downplay the personal losses of people, the band and the fans can only vicariously honour/mourn so many strangers before they get bummed out... and before they get desensitized to the dedications. I hate that that seems insensitive, but it just seems to be the case.

But anyway, people should do and ask what they want.... we just need a separate place for all these requests.

I would rather see song requests than the countless merch threads and ticket requests. The music is what brought most of us here in the first place, why not have people share their stories and ideas related to the music? All of it does get repetitive but we can always ignore the stuff we don't want to read.

Most song requests I could do without. There are a few exceptions, like the guy who lost his wife and wanted to hear Come Back at Wrigley. That was cool and very special.

The other day 11/18 of the threads (not counting the sticky threads which for some reason take up 50% of the main page) were song requests. Completely ridiculous. The band isn't a friggin jukebox for your emotions and this isn't American top 40 with a 'long distance request." Enough already.
