    just curious....
did you feel that way upon first listen or has it become the "greatest" after some passage of time?

great question. it definitely took time - maybe 7-8 years. the album has so many nuances throughout it. you can see the influence Neil Young had on the band (Ed in particular) prior to recording it (there is an element of "I don't give a fuck" to it). In my opinion it is the a perfect collaboration between Brendan O'Brien and PJ. What a great record.

    thanks,
same way for me. unlike Yield it took a while for me to truly appreciate what No Code is....
a lot of the songs sound like they were built from Jack and Ed jamming/writing together.
and I def see the Neil Young influences even down to some of the effects they use on the guitars esp in I'm Open and the b-side Dead Man.
    Great Record indeed!!!
