Story on the 09 SLC poster?

RiotZactRiotZact Posts: 6,206
So I've been thinking about buying this beauty lately but if I recall years ago when it came out there were a few different versions of it or something and some of them didn't come out right and look bad in person? Just wondering if someone could give me a brief history lesson so I know what to look out for. Thanks!

The show/10C version (I got it from 10C) is on black stock and it is really dark. I think it suits the print, but I think the complaint was that it was hard to see. I'm not sure if the A/P was on white stock or not.

A/P has two versions as well. On a white stock which is more rare/harder to find.
Since he's been present here lately, BK can chime in himself as I won't speak for him but here is what is from EB: http://expressobeans.com/public/detail.php/125231
"As most of you are already aware, there were some printing issues
with the Pearl Jam 2009 Salt Lake City posters... they printed far
too dark on black paper. When I saw these at the printer, I was a
bit crushed. When I returned home I emailed Jeff Ament and asked
if he would be ok with me printing another round of this poster on
white paper so the poster could exist out in the world the way it
was originally supposed to. He said sure."

I have both versions and I would say to go with the white paper one. I posted a side by side photo on ebeans. http://forum.expressobeans.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=41793&start=195

The white version is tremendous, the black though nice looks like an error

I got the black version from 10c and had to send it back. I couldn't read the text... it was just far too dark. Eventually got the white-stock version (I don't remember from where... probably Artillery?) and it's a beaut! One of my favorites!

I bought the black version at the show and didn't even notice that it said Ben Harper etc. at the bottom until I got it home and looked at it closer. I bought the white one a couple of months ago because I want to frame the posters from all of the pj concerts that I have attended and felt that the black one was just too dark for framing. I was blown away by how good the white one looks.
