Both are OK and all. I kinda like Massey Hall better. Both Ed solo show's there that I went to sounded so good. Would love to hear Pearl Jam @ that place. Yeah, it's smaller venue. But that shouldn't stop them from playing 4 nights there.

Isn't that from an episode of The Office? Winnipeg is awesome, and it's getting better all the time. We are world class, my friend.

People who disparage Winnipeg need to spend more time there. Easily my favourite underrated city in Canada.
Except when it's -45 Celcius on a good day in the winter :)

Pfft. And besides, it's a dry cold. ;)

I agree. I find it ridiculous that Pearl Jam isn't playing Toronto this year. I mean, they sold out both Toronto shows in 2011 INCLUDING THE SEATS BEHIND THE STAGE. Despite not being successful of getting any tickets for at least one of the 10 U.S. shows this year, I will have my membership renewed on June 3, 2014 because I have a feeling they will come to Canada next year.

I'm always shocked when I hear people say this. There isn't a single thing I like better about the Ampitheatre. Second worst concert venue in the city IMO (after Sound Academy).

Another thing: it is quite hard to get good seats for a pearl jam show in Toronto. That's why I joined the ten club after buying tickets for one of the two Toronto shows in a regular pre-sale because it was really frustrating. I should have done this back in 2009 after I was shutout of getting tickets for their amphitheatre show in 2009. My seniority would have also been slightly higher if I had done that.

If you're not on the floor--and practically nobody is--then yeah, it's an absolutely awful venue. Having said that: the last four (?) times I've been there (Tom Petty in 2006, Pearl Jam in 2009, Soundgarden in 2011, Americanarama in 2013) I've been on the floor, and that's awesome. I actively avoid Amphitheatre shows unless I'm in the 100s or near the front of the 200s; otherwise it's not worth it to me.

Man...the next Toronto lottery's gonna be the worst thing ever.

yeah and that will be even with 2 shows most likely, the sad part for fans is they could play a whole month in Toronto like 14 shows and there would still be way more demand than tickets available, but that is the same with Chicago and Seattle

Imagine the reaction on here if they announced fourteen Toronto shows?

"Fourteen? WHY NOT FIFTEEN, YOU FUCKING ASSHOLES!"

    Kidding. Kind of.

I think our Arena is too small. Holds 7000ish people. If we had any chance it might of been in 2005. They cut out some of the smaller places on the 2011 Canadian Tour. So it doesn't exactly go in our favour.

I'd love to see them play here though. Back in the old days I thought they could do a warm up gig over here (as were close) but they don't really do warm up gigs anymore.

The JLC in London (or whatever it's called now...Budweiser Gardens?) isn't much bigger and it got the warmup show last year. So who knows? I never dreamed I'd see Pearl Jam at the Fort William Gardens in Thunder Bay. ;)

The acoustics at the Amphitheatre are God awful. Having said that, when the band plays during the hot months they prefer to play outdoors when possible, so I hope they never return to play here during the summer.

To quote the 10C from Newsletter #8: "Please understand we have a lot of members and it is very hard to please everybody. If you are one of those unhappy people...please call 1-900-IDN-TCAR."

The acoustics are only really bad on the lawn. If you're under the roof, it's fine.
I worked at the Amphitheatre for a couple years and the atmosphere on a nice summer day is way better than the inevitable hotbox the ACC becomes during concerts. The 2003 PJ show was one of the best I've ever seen and that was partly due to the weather and fireworks at the end.

I know it gets a lot of flack for not being as accessible as the ACC by TTC, but it's still a good venue.

Can't disagree with you, but we can dream, can't we?

After all, why wouldn't they want to play in a city that's awkward and expensive to get to and has pricey accommodations and an inadequate sewage system??
