Pearl Jam Mix Tape

You have to fill a playlist with 10 songs.
Any album, including bsides, bootlegs and side projects
What songs would you choose?
Playlists can be themed, a few words about your choices would be awesome.
I'll blog the results - link to follow- (and will use the submissions to further assist my procrastination when I'm meant to be writing)

Well let's see, I'm gonna make it up as I go along, but I'll give it a shot.

Well I've tried to create a flow in the list.
So that was part of the selection process.

For now it will have to be

Pendulum Because it is so beautifully hauting. It fits nicely with the others as well.
Can't keep Because I just love the melody. And I often sang it to my daughter when she was going to bed.
In my tree Sucha great vibe, such wonderfull drumming, I love the chaotic sense of it.
W.M.A. It just fits so nicely coming after In my tree. I get the feeling I could dance to it around a fire in the woods.
Immortality It starts as a simple enough song, but it takes you places, and it sounds just so warm.
Inside job I love to be hypnotised by it, the music and the lyrics.
Given to fly Some how it just flowed naturally out of the end of Inside job, and it has such nice waves and the lyrics, ...
Who you are It's the first song I sang to my daughter, within the hour of her birth. Noone else there just the two of us.
Indifference So many memories, it's so frigile and majestic. Painfull and coverting at the same time.
Present tense The warm guitar play feels like a blanket while you are being comforted by the lyrics just before the trip.
It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me.

    Cool choices!

This is difficult, but I'll try to come up with one:

    1. Release- Verona '06

Love the emotion Eddie puts into it that version

    2. Even Flow- Buenos Aires '13

The crowd interaction is incredible and Mike really shreds it up!!!! PJ classic :)

    3. Sirens

Beautiful song. My favourite off of LB! They really did a great job with this one and it reminds me that the band will continue to create and create and create great music for us to enjoy

    4. Daughter- State College '03

An excellent version of the song. My favourite! It's like 4 songs in one! I also loves that he thanks the crowd!

    5. Thumbing My Way

Whenever I'm feeling down, listening to this one gets all of my emotion out for me!

    6. Come Back

Pure expression. Brings out exactly how I feel sometimes. I NEVER skip this one when it comes on (Now that I think about it I don't skip much PJ at all!).

    7. State Of Love And Trust- Unplugged '92

Great song, and when acoustically put together, it sounds phenominal! Best version ever

    8. Breath- Seattle '92

So energizing and motivating- my second favourite PJ song of all time! This version always gets me pumped up

    9. Black- Pittsburgh '13

Absolutely brilliant both lyrically and musically!! Full of so much expression and emotion, Eddie clearly portrays how he felt when he wrote this song. My favourite song of all time and when I saw it in Pittsburgh for the first time, it was breath-taking!!! :)

    10. All Those Yesterdays- Washington '98

What a song! I interpret it as vacation- escaping from the past stress in your life to get some rest. That's one way of looking at it.

Interesting, you took the liberty of picking studio versions and live ones.
That didn't even occur to me. Not that I would have done it if I had, but I was just think live or studio.
Cool when you see the two lsits together and see their isn't one song the same.
Although I must say that I really considerd Release. I went to the Verona boot straight away. ;)

So hard to choose only 10 songs (but easier than only 3 :-))

    Rearviewmirror
    State of Love and Trust

No matter the version, always loved them !

Come back (Verona 2006 - just perfect)
Betterman (live version is absolutely amazing when all the people sing together...)
Mind your manners for the punk influence
Kick out the jams (w/ Mark Arm - Melbourne Big Day Out 2014) So much fun !

    Guaranteed
    Indifference

Karmadefect has described Indifference very well. Nothing more to add

    Present tense
    Life wasted

Because i have redefined my entire life through these songs

We all know that chosing 10 out of all these great songs is impossible... and changes every day:)

So just for fun I would create "Colours of Pearl Jam" album:
    1. W.M.A
    2. Yellow moon
    3. Yellow ledbetter
    4. Green disease
    5. Blue red and grey
    6. Red mosquito
    7. Sad (“All the photographs were peeling and colours turned to grey”)
    8. Hard to Imagine (“Paint a picture visions only grey”)
    9. Spin the Black Circle
    10. Black

Well the melody is very soothing.
Apart from that it's a song that talks about wanting to get everything out of live.
    So why not?
    ;)
