Do you think Stone gets lonely?

It seems like Mike and Jeff are having a lot of fun on the other side of the stage.

I don't know, I watched the youtube video of PJ playing, "Let the Records Play" from Philly. Stone seemed way off in the distance by himself, I thought he might have been more into it considering he wrote the song?

He might be thinking he probably wrote about 5 songs that were a lot better that weren't picked.

I think Stone likes to lock into the groove and really zones out/in on that facet of some of their tunes.

I think Mike is lonely and his crazy running around is his way of coping. ;)

I have never seen pics but he mentions growing up and having kids. He said something about going to PTO meetings.

He is a really nice dude in person - very talkative and friendly. I don't think he's lonely as much as he's anchoring some serious groove & can't run around as much. Lets post some video clips of Stone getting down on stage! Go!

  • I was about 4 back in front of Stone for 2 shows last year. Almost depressing at times watching him up there and then seeing what Mike is doing on the other side. It really feels at times that Stone doesn't want to be up there. I hope it's not the case, but it sure feels that way. I was in front of Mike for 1 show and its almost like a whole different concert is going on from that side.

If I were to speculate, I would say that Mike might be a half-full guy and Stone a half-empty guy?

I think that's just his gig. He used to run around in the earlier days but I think he just digs jamming.

no, it's just the way the man works. I remember back to the 1998 and 2000 tours that Stone mostly stood in place to play. it's how he rolls.

Yep, I think the same. He has some intricate parts and he really lays the groundwork and rhythm in all the songs, like a drummer, he's got to be on point. He's just in the zone. The stone zone.

  • I don't think you should compare Mike to Stone or vice versa.
Mike is a show man and he brings that to the table. Stone is not like that at all.
He focusses on the music, is concentrated and plays a groove.
Also I think he makes it possible for Mike to showcase the way he does.
Perhaps in that regard he is kind of like Jeff a team player that lets others shine.
I wouldn't worry about Stone, he's got a shitload of money and he doesn't have to work another day in his live, so if he doesn't enjoy playing why would he do it? Off course there's always the off chance that he is being bulleyed into joining the tour by the others.
It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me.

stone is without a doubt the most talented musician in the band. i think it's safe to say and almost guarantee he gets bored repeatedly playing most of PJ's live staples (DTE, evenflow, alive, given to fly, etc, etc, etc) which is interesting because at the same time he is the most thick headed in the band when playing their more obscure songs that hardly see any love live. his on stage debates with ed are classic and stone always wins. you would think he would be more willing to play some of those tracks we haven't been treated to live in a long time (looking at you binaural and riot act).

i don't think he is mailing anything in live. he just gets in a groove and let's mike and ed be the showman.

I'm not sure either way, but in PJ20 Stone refers to the set list and the way Eddie writes them and saying "let me play some hits!" If you are referring to his ability to play these hits asleep under water while fighting a Kraken, then yes I agree.

    This.
I remember interviews where he said if it were up to him he'd like to mix it up more than just playing the hits....
    Then...
The No Way debate at PJ20 was classic. Not sure why Stone wouldn't want to play his own song. Everyone else was on board and he was like "nope".
    He lost that debate! hahaha

At the big day out they should have replaced the Like A Boss section with the Stone Zone. It would've been way cooler.
