The RVM jam is pure music ecstasy and is fuckin amazing. Only a person who doesn't appreciate a true sense of what music is would complain.

    That's retarded....

    i agree.

i do love (what seems to be) the majority on this board that can't stand any sort of criticism of the band.

i guess i'm not a fan because i don't want to hear a jam i don't like during a song that i'm tired of hearing live by a band that i don't find particularly good at jamming.

i'm not a mindless music fan. just because pearl jam does it DOES NOT guarantee i'll like it.

If they didn't jam ed's voice would be shat, the dude needs a couple minutes some times to let the throat chill.. no jam=no blood & no evolution anymore.

Actually, some jams turn into cigarette breaks, so not so sure about that :(
... and the will to show I will always be better than before.

Oh by the way I'm with you in never seeing them live. I guess my opinion would probably change if I did. I'm just going by what I see on the DVDs and boots.

i personally can't stand when they jam on rvm. plus i don't want to hear three or four minutes of noise during crazy mary either. while boom might add a certain dynamic to other songs (those with keys in the studio versions) his "solo" during crazy mary is abysmal.

take away those five to ten minutes of worthless jamming and give me other songs. hell. i'll even go so far as to say i'd rather hear wishlist or sweet lew.

I've heard moments of utter synchronistic, sublime beauty in Pearl's jams, but I've also heard complete dischord and chaotic anarchy.

But I say bring it on.

I've got a mixed opinion on it. When I'm at a show, the jam's work and I love them. However, sometimes listening to boots it does wear on me. Frankly, the show is much more important than the boot, so I guess I'm a fan of the jams.

by default i have to say that their jamming isn't good in the context of how i hear pearl jam live because i'm only going off of what i've heard. can i really make a blanket statement and say they aren't good at jamming without having heard every single jam? no, but then again this is really just a matter of opinion. but i do know that i haven't liked any of the jams i've heard when i've seen them.

and these are the shows i've seen:

    san diego 98
    seattle 98 (night one)
    shoreline 01
    irvine 03
    san diego 03
    san diego 06

If u don't like mike making that guitar whale especially in that version then i don't understand how u like the band. i know not liking one song dosen't make u not a fan but that version mike kills it. To each his own but i dont get u.
