With "The Whole World's Watching," heavy hitters Walking Papers make clear that vitriol and art still go hand in hand. The band's special performance video of the song – which appeared on their recent album Walking Papers – was shot live at the Moore Theatre in Seattle in May and counts guest guitar work from Pearl Jam's Mike McCready, plus assistance from the Synergia Northwest Orchestra.

Of course, Walking Papers – comprising bassist Duff McKagan, drummer Barrett Martin (ex-Screaming Trees) and former Missionary Position members Jeff Angell and Benjamin Anderson – hardly need to name-drop. The group's resume alone warrants giving "The Whole World's Watching" a closer look. Written by guitarist and frontman Angell, bassist Duff McKagan describes the tune as "a classic, modern-day protest song." But in its collaborative video form above, it becomes bigger and meaner.

"Mike joined us that night," McKagan, the one-time Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver member, explains. "He and Barrett played together in the great Mad Season, and those two have remained fairly tight ever since. And Mike and myself have been friends since our teenage years. Mike has a musical energy that brings a fairly frenetic ooze to anything he does."

Having the orchestra accompany them made the night even more memorable, McKagan said. "The conductor made it really easy on us by having great parts pre-written for his players. We simply played our song, and they followed! The night was an extra-special one for us indeed. We are very proud of this special and exclusive version of our initial single."
