Best version of Porch in your opinion and why?

Soldier Field 1995 - How many fucking songs did Mike tag during the extended jam? This is the best 'jam' they've ever done in my opinion. The guitar interplay is something that will be locked in time as a perfect musical moment. I love how it quiets down and then just fucking roars on back in. Jack's drumming during this particular show has never been matched.

Great thread. But I think this is like trying to pick your favorite child. I'll have to ponder this and give my answer later.

East Ruth 2006 2. Ed jammed with them after his smoke and it added an awesome element. Not to mention it was around 11 mins long.

Hahaha! I tried finding a thread on this - no luck. It's never been discussed outright from what I could tell. I secretly just want to listen to a bunch of cherry picked versions of Porch today!

Absolutely! Such a frantic version and certainly one of the best I've heard. Gotta be some dark horse versions out there though...

not a fan of the slow porch intro the band has been playing the past several years. tempo doesnt work with the rest of the song for me.

one of the best versions of porch comes from melbourne 95. ed prefaces porch with the infamous NW speech, great extended jam where the band really sounds insync, and ed sings during the jam.

    found this on youtube:

NW speech with footage that isnt the porch that followed:

One of my favorites.....just the way each one of them is creating a totally different sound with each of their instruments for a phenominal jam then they all jump back on the smae page. The tempo is ridiculous.

    Also Witchita, Kansas 1993
    Salt Lake CIty 95
St Petersburg Flo-Rida 1994 Absolutly SICK the way dave beats the shit out of the drums

Pinkpop '92. Besides the infamous jump from Ed, I totally dig the jam that the rest of them play during said jump. Plus it's hard to beat the intensity that the band had during '92.

I'll never forget Kansas City '10 though. My first show and during the jam, a couple in front of us got into a fight with the couple next to us.

Bonnaroo was pretty damned good, but Ed does ramble a little too long for me. Ed's speech about a song changing the world (or not being able to) always reminds me of Rocky; "If I can change, you can change, we all can change"
