Wrigley Tickets prices - 30 days to go

Hi All,

We continue our tracking of Wrigley ticket prices. Prices have continued to significantly increase in the first 18 days of June - up 13% on Ebay sold tickets and 8 percent on Craigslist Chicago listed prices from the end of May (see below for details). Also supply on Stubhub continues to decline, with the lowest priced pair (in the 500s) now priced at around $400 per ticket.

We've thought about reasons for the continued increase in prices, as per previous research results they should be declining as we get closer to the show. Reasons include the special nature of the show (Pearl Jam's super bowl), location Wrigley and Chicago, time Friday in the summer. Another thing we think is happening is while Wrigley's capacity is 40,000, looking at the Stubhub map of tickets for sale it appears upwards of 10,000 plus tickets went to 10 Club members, thus reducing the amount of tickets on the secondary market and decreasing potential supply and increasing prices for scalped tickets. It will be interesting to see if on the day of show 10 Club members are tempted to break the rules and sell tickets for market rates - since they seem to be so high. We recommend if you're tempted, don't. Think about how the band left millions of dollars on the table so their fans had access at very reasonable prices.

We'll update again on July 1 and 18 (just prior to the show). Looking forward to the big night on July 19th.

My theory for the increase in prices is because we are a month out where people need to firm up on their travel plans. So the buyers are now panicking. About a week or two out the sellers should start panicking and the prices drop.

I could be way off, but who knows. People thought there would be plenty of tickets when it went on sale to the public and many of those same people were shut out.

Great point - it makes a lot of sense since many are spending big to travel to the show.

It's cool you saw PJ at Lolla Orlando in '92 and Will see at Wrigley this year.

They would have to go down considerably before I'd make the jump. I'd pay these prices if a had a recliner and a waitress sitting amongst the band on the stage.

Would be nice...but there aren't enough tickets on the open market (~500 on Ebay and Stub Hub combined) to think the prices will come down much. Look at the list of people looking for tickets just in Ten Club, that doesn't count everyone else. I'm still searching as well, but I'm not too confident. Good luck all
