I nominate this for post of the year!

Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.

Maybe the OP is actually George W...that would make sense in all aspects of the post.

While I don't necessarily agree they won't sell out 6 - 7k venues, I don't think they could sell out arenas on a full scale tour. They have a smart organization and know the small tours and festival gigs pay the most and are easier for one offs. I love the band, but this is the natural progression of bands like them. I still will love being able to see the, when I can and still love all their music, but the OP has made some valid points.

Crap...Red Rocks holds 9,450. Far too many empty spots on the wooden benches.

Looks like they might have to stuff all of us in Denver at the Gothic Theater. (999 capacity)
    Or skip us again lol.

I keep tabs on PJ's boxscores, this is what I've gathered from Billboard from their 2010 East Coast tour.

    Total Gross: $10,227,193
Number of Shows: 11 (not inc Buffalo show as no info and also New Orleans as it's a festival)
    Total Attendance: 175,131
    Average attendance: 15,921
    Number of Sell-Outs: 9

As you can see, not too shabby. If they did a full US tour, they'd have made the years top 25, I think someone in another thread worked out they'd come in at No 6 if they did a full tour (70 shows). Okay, so the average would probably fall as the likely hood is, the more shows they'd do, the less they'd sell, but it still shows PJ can sell out arenas in the US.
    My PJ shows:
    London 28/10/96, Las Vegas 11/7/98, London 29/5/00, Nurnburg 11/6/00, Prague 14/6/00, Salzburg 18/6/00, Verona 20/6/00, Milan 22/6/00, Zurich 23/6/00, New York 8-9/7/03, Boston 11/7/03, Reading Festival 27/8/06, Shepards Bush 11/8/09, Berlin 15/8/09, Manchester 17/8/09, London 18/8/09, Dublin 22/6/10, Belfast 23/6/10, London (HRC) 25/6/10, Alpine Valley (PJ20) 3-4/9/11, Manchester 20-21/6/12, Leeds 8/7/14, Milton Keynes 11/7/14 To be continued....

If they'd just play the South (10 shows from NC to NOLA) they'd bank it so big. Fans here haven't seen a PJ show locally in years (some 10 years) and we're STARVING!

Well guys ive been thinking about the upcoming us fall tour & i realized something.Where or what type of venues will the band be playing in? The fact is this band CANNOT sell out in my opinion any venue over 6-7k people.

since the backspacer tour.....they played mostly mediocre venues like the 4 nights in gibson.etc.

Unless its a Festival or some gimmikie thing like closing out the spectrum this band is in real trouble.

they havent produced much since yield & are defenitely due for a promising album.if not they will b next to nothing here in the states.

id imagine this is why they are waiting so long to announce anything..its prob really hard to figure out how to make it all work.

I KNOW they will sell out in seattle if they play the rumored two shows @ key..but that just wont cut it.

    Whata u all think?

Seems to me all the GUYS are truly in love with their side projects (which are all shit btw)...and they are genuienly enjoying themselves unlike when they are together for pearl jam)

please b4 reading this and over reacting think about it for a minute.

    Finally in closing,

I personally believe this band does not have the confidence to do a all out us tour.

I'm pretty sure if they did a summer tour at baseball stadiums they'd sell them all out. They're in U2/Springsteen territory. Certainly not 6,000 capacity territory. That's hilarious.

This guy must have been one of those Pearl Jam fans where he was really into them for Ten-Vitalogy, lost touch, and is now getting back into them. Cause there is no way any other TenClubber would say something this dumb lmao.

Yup... here's hoping they're still rocking when they hit 60, which I can easily see since they've survived this long. Bruce only seemed to get better and U2 -- who I've never seen live and are a bit older than PJ -- carry that same live rep.
