I thought I'd share the best use of music used in a movie to set the mood and tell a story.

That was exactly the scene that I thought of when I saw the subject of this thread. Good pick!

Yes, Donnie Darko definitely nails it several times... hmm. I'm on a snow day. Perhaps I'll watch Donnie Darko later; haven't seen it in years! :)

I'd also say that the entire Pulp Fiction soundtrack is a lesson in perfect soundtracks - timing, music choice, everything. For the whole movie.

Although this looks to be a re-edited music video, the real movie and music scene was perfect and kinda happens around 1:35. I felt like I was a desperate, horny 17 year old again when I originally saw this. :P She was so cruel.

Good list...you mention Goodfellas,...that reminds me of Casino when House of the Rising Sun comes on while Sharon Stone stumbles down the hallway.

Elton John's Tiny Dancer on the bus scene in Almost Famous. All the characters singing along make it very memorable.

"Takin' a Ride" from Heavy Metal was pretty epic.

So was "Reach Out" by Cheap Trick (same show).

I didn't think this was a debate. I was just informing everyone that the use of Tiny Dancer in Almost Famous was the best use of music in a movie scene. :P

But there are a few suggestions that could make me reconsider. The Pixies and Fight Club is a nice choice.

Now I'm curious what else is out there: :corn:
