Happy to see the Dolphins doing this well

Surprisingly, a lot of people have been saying that to me. Many even reminiscing about the 80's and 90's when they were consistently competitive.

More of a bizzaro bandwagon fan. First winning season in 8 years and now he disappears.

I'm a Dolphins fan, but admittedly don't watch much football these days....

    Marino holdover here.

The Seahawks supplanted the Fins for me. Don't hold this against me: on the Canadian west coast, we saw all Seahawk games back in the Zorn and Largent era and I grew up loving that team; however, come week 17... a fella needed a different team to get behind. The fins were always that team for me. Marino is my all time favourite player. And I hate the Bills.

Fantasy football changed how I watch football though.

And here on Canada's east coast we have the Patriots shoved down our throats whether we like it or not. Fuck that.

Very disappointing. He was a Seahawk fan, that jumped on the Dolphins bandwagon with Marino, and now is back with the Seahawks now that they're consistently competitive? Weak.

I have to admit that I tend to cheer the Steelers (my dad's favorite team) when the Dolphins go belly-up come playoff time but I've never in anyway sold out the Dolphins in favor of them. In fact, if the seeds hold they way they are now, the Dolphins and Steelers will meet in the wildcard round this year. And it's possible that my father, out of pure pity for me, might cheer for the Dolphins.

Ledbetterman10, your not the only Phins fan. I've been a fan my whole life, not a bandwagon jumper. Still remember being at the Monday Night game in December against the Bears in 1985 when we ruined their attempt at a perfect season. Had tickets in the very last row on the Phins side, crappy seats, and those stands swayed like a mofo. But at 15, you didn't complain where your seat is, you were just happy to be in the Orange Bowl watching a Dolphins game.

South Florida sports fans suck, period. Unless the team is winning, that's the only time you get people to fill the stadiums. This Sunday there will be more Patriots fans then Dolphin fans in the stands. That's how it goes for most northeast teams that play here, since so many people from the northeast live down here now.

The Heat this year, you can't even give away free tickets.

The only free tickets I was offered was for the Dolphin stadium fanzone to watch the game on the big screen. The Dolphins were playing an away game. I'm sure the Dolphin/Patriot Game will have a good amount of Dolphin Fans. I was at the Dolphin/Titan game and the majority of the stadium was Dolphin fans and it was pretty full.

Why? A victory over the pats in the season finale will be better than a first round playoff loss.

But referring to a regular season game as a team's "Super Bowl" implies that it's that teams' biggest game. The Dolphins' biggest game this year is the playoff game next week against Pittsburgh.

Sure to lose 95%? Well that's oddly worded.

Look I'm not delusional like the folks on the Dolphins fansites or reddit pages I frequent. I know that.....

    1) The Dolphins overachieved...playing a weak-ass schedule.
    2) This season could very well be a mirage like 2008.
    3) Pittsburgh is far more experienced in postseason games. Especially at QB and head coach.
    4) The Dolphins are playing with a backup QB (insert "What's the difference? Tannehill blows" comment here)
    5) Pittsburgh is just better.

All fair points. My hope lies in the following...

    1) Miami beat Pittsburgh the last two times they've played. So that's something I guess.
    2) Pittsburgh really sucks against the run and Ajayi has been eating up shitty run defenses, including Pittsburgh's in week week 6.
    3) Under Tomlin, every time Pittsburgh is a huge favorite, it seems like they lose. The Tebow game is the most notable example but there's a few others.

Really, nothing would surprise me in this game. Ben throwing for 500 yards in a 30-7 Steelers victory wouldn't surprise me. Ajayi rushing for 200 in a close Dolphins victory wouldn't surprise me. Obviously, the Dolphins have little room for error. But that kind of holds true for every playoff game ever.

I assume from your post above ("I'm pretty confident this year the PATRIOTS will beat the FINNS") that you're a Patriots fan. Well you remember in the 2010 playoffs when the 14-2 Patriots got beaten down by the Sanchez/Rex-led Jets up in Foxborough. The Steelers aren't as good as that Pats team and the Dolphins aren't as bad as that Jets team. So anything can happen. Even if they're "sure to lose 95%"

    Peace

No I'm still here. I just haven't been on this message board that much lately. I've been spewing my Dolphins agitation on reddit. Some random Dolphins takes.....

    1) I was not one of those Dolphins fans that thought that making the playoffs last year meant that they're ready to take the "next step." Like the 2008 before them, last year was a total fluke. And we all know how the years that followed 2008 went.

    2) I don't get the point of signing Cutler. Matt Moore has been serviceable when he's had to play. I'm not saying you're going to win a Super Bowl with Moore, but hell, this franchise couldn't win one with Marino. Convincing Cutler to come out of retirement because you were his OC during a season where he wasn't downright awful didn't seem like that good of an idea.

    3) For the all the entertainment the UK has given us (The Beatles, Zeppelin, etc), it's downright cruel to send them the Dolphins. Other than the Jags, I think the Dolphins have played there more than anyone. I may be wrong about that though.

    4) The offensive line sucks.

    5) The defense can't force a turnover to save their lives.

    6) In a year where New England seems mortal (for now, at least), of course the Dolphins wouldn't be able to take advantage.

    7) One of the skill position guys that actually have talent (Ajayi, Parker, Landry) will probably end up on the Patriots one way or another.

Nobody wants to talk about the Dolphins' EPIC 16-10 win over the Titans?
