Here is a video of Ed's speech I put up on YouTube. Just the speech not the actual song.

You're not going to believe this, but I'm sitting here downtown reading this, as right when I finish reading the story and the bell from the belltower rings. I didn't even know there was a belltower down here. That was pretty intense!

I just downloaded this show based on the comments in this thread. It's awesome! I was at the Vegas show the night before, and he did seem to be having a bit of a rough night. They still sounded pretty damn good though! Goosebumps when the Long Road chords start for sure.

Alright, so I'm still trying to figure this out. The video is actually in two clips. The first clip is about 40 seconds and starts when Ed talking about ringing the bell. The next clip is the whole song. this file is 107 mb's and is in mpg. format. Just want to figure out an easy way to share this clip. I'm not that clever when it comes to this tech ish.

Wow thanks everyone, for the transcript and the vids.
I just had a look at my Merkinball disc ( accomonies miiror ball) it has-
    - I got ID and
    -The long road
at the top it actualy has "long road" for Clayton E
The thread has moved me greatly, I shed a tear both reading and vids.
If you dont mind here is my Long road story
11 years ago in december my Mother died from lung cancer. In the week leading to her death my younger brother and I drove the 2 hr drive to pick up my oldest brother from the airport. On the way he told me he heard a PJ song on the radio and taped it for me. It was the long road. I grasped this song so hard at the time ( it helped me hold it together) she lost her battle that christmas. The following March PJ toured OZ and as always I was at the first sydney show. they strolled out and played Long road.
Man I just lost it then so bad. I still well up everytime I hear it. Im hoping they play it next sunday in my home town of Newcastle.
And now I learn the story of how it was written and for whom.

I had a Clayton E in my life. Im going to find him and thank him for what he did for a young lost little boy.
    Thank you so much

aw thank YOU too for sharing your story. I would say it's 'lovely' but that's obviously not the right word... but that's what Pearl Jam are here for: to put into words all the stuff the rest of us are crap at :o

    Ooohh, me rambling again
    The Astoria??? Orgazmic!
    Verona??? it's all surmountable
Dublin 23.08.06 "The beauty of Ireland, right there!"
    Wembley? We all believe!
Copenhagen?? your light made us stars
    Chicago 07? And love
    What a different life
Had I not found this love with you

Bump for Merkinball day. I was googling cause I can't find my boot, stumbled upon this. Awesome.
I mean I dare you to sing "Black" and not feel it.
    I dare you.
I've tried to phone in "Jeremy" a few times, and it's tough.
    It doesn't work.
