Oh the 45rpm Club SUUUUUUUUUUCKED. Bad. The only good that came of it is the shirt I have on right now for the members.

I think it was very visible the last 5 years or so of the band that Brian wasn't in his skin. After the 59 Sound he became the "next Bruce" or the "savior of rock and roll" and had guys like Bruce and like Eddie Vedder sharing the stage with him singing his songs. That's certainly enough to freak anyone out and have the fame go to his head. I think both are very true and I don't fault him one bit for it. I'd be freaked out with the accolades and I'd get a big head if all of a sudden Ed and Bruce were singing my songs.

Agree with all of this. Which is why I think he wanted to try this solo thing and it was needed.

The club was atrocious. Just more proof to never put credence into what Brian says publicly. He had good intentions but he rarely follows through. (See TGA pre shows)

Oh man that fan club was a disaster. I appreicated what they were trying to do, but that was a trainwreck.....pretty sure they just had 1 guy working on that fan club part time. Having said that, god damn I can't wait for these guys to come back. They're a very close 2nd to me to PJ. Such a great band.

Man do I miss these guys. Just listened to Senor and the Queen EP....4 awesome songs. Sounds like Brian is working on another solo album so unfortunately wouldn't expect anything from them anytime soon. Bummer.

Yeah it's going to be a while, if ever. Starting to think that's more likely but holding out hope.

If they do decide to be finished as a group I hope down the road Brian starts incorporating more full and Gaslight songs one day in his sets.

That being said, love his solo stuff
  • Oh man, I saw this thread bumped and thought maybe there was news. God I miss them. I too love Brian's solo stuff. Does anyone else think that the best song from the Painkillers sessions was the exclusive track The Blues Mary? Nobody Wins and Long Drives were great as well. Hell, the album and the Georgia EP together are wonderful.
  • Daron OshayDaron Oshay Middletown, NJ Posts: 2,488
The Blues, Mary is one of the best songs he's ever written if you ask me. Was around on some bootlegs for a while not sure if you were aware.
  • Yup. I agree with you completely. I was really hoping it would make the album and was somewhat confused when it wasn't on the track list. When I saw it pop up on the expanded version, I was more than thrilled.

I thought the same thing! I had not heard The Blues Mary before, and I just listened to it...a beautiful song

Sorry! They popped up on my shuffle yesterday and I needed to talk about Gaslight somewhere! Listened to them all day yesterday.

Would love some good quality boots as well. I have a couple but the quality is poor.

    I freaking miss this band.

So much. With Brian working on another album, seems like we'd be 2-3 years away at least for a possible reunion. Bummer.

Personally I'm starting to think it won't ever happen. And even if it does of they wait to long no one will really care.

    Hope I'm wrong

I still listen to 59 Sound from time to time. Love it. It's timeless and at the same time it brings me back to that year.

The wife and i drove 9 hours to see them and it was amazing. I never liked anything else they released very much but that album lives forever

Fallon on his way soon to New Orleans to record his second solo album.

Safe to assume late 2017 release, some dates then tour most of 18

Excited for this but I still want TGA back. Earliest will be 2019 I guess. Like i said earlier, will it matter?

If it never happens i hope Brian at least starts playing TGA songs live again at some point

I won't go see Fallon solo until he starts playing GLA songs

Yeah, it sucks.  The Fallon solo stuff is good, but I'd much rather have TGA back.  Hopefully it happens at some point in the next few years....

Ben is in a new band, is he not? I don't know how serious that band is, but I am starting to assume that TGA is done for real. I know Alex owns a sub shop and something else business wise I think.

Maybe a tour or two in the future, but I don't see them recording again unfortunately. Just my 2c

Just came across this today. First time since the hiatus I feel like we may get to see them again. He doesn't say that for sure but made it sound like the door isn't closed at least.

Without a doubt one of the most open interviews Brian has ever given. Especially about TGA and his mindset at the end before the hiatus.

Is there a part 2 of this podcast or something?  I listened to it last night and didn't hear him say anything about TGA or the hiatus....
