  • saw the making of "wish you were here". excellent. good bonus features.

there was a picture of him at the studio for said album
    crazy sad

syd, shine on you crazy diamond

Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun.

    Shine on you crazy diamond.
Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky.
    Shine on you crazy diamond.
You were caught on the cross fire of childhood and stardom,
    Blown on the steel breeze.
Come on you target for faraway laughter, come on you stranger,
You legend, you martyr, and shine!

You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon.
    Shine on you crazy diamond.
Treatened by shadows at night, and exposed in the light.
    Shine on you crazy diamond.
Well you wore out your welcome with random precision,
    Rode on the steel breeze.
Come on you raver, you seer of visions, come on you painter,
You piper, you prisoner, and shine!

Nobody knows where you are, how near or how far.
    Shine on you crazy diamond.
Pile on many more layers and i'll be joining you there.
    Shine on you crazy diamond.
And we'll bask in the shadow of yesterday's triumph,
And sail on the steel breeze.
Come on you boy child, you winner and loser,
Come on you miner for truth and delusion, and shine!

I watched it when it was on cable, but I've yet to sit down and watch the dvd. Loved it though. Much better than the Classic Album series, DSOTM and otherwise. I wish every great album had something like this. I need to find a couple hours and watch this thing.

My second fave band. So glad to hear PJ cover Mother and Interstellar Overdrive in Europe this summer. Next, they should play all of Echoes. :D

    Wow.

I bet that cost you something.

The lyrics to Time are awesome (as are so many other lyrics to so many other Floyd songs).

Start with either Dark Side of the Moon or Wish You Were Here. Do NOT start with either Piper At The Gates of Dawn, Animals or The Wall - all absolutely classic albums, but should be explored later.

Original or the director’s cut? My vote would be the original, except for some of the behind-the-scenes stuff in the newer version.

This thread’s got me itching to pull out Ummagumma for the first time in a while, lol.

Just rocked out to Wish You Were Here... and then fired up DSOTM.

    Time.

Un-f**king real. The lyrics are awesome. So is the music.

These guys are definitely my favourite band of all time.

Just listening to DSOTM for the third time.
After the first listen I was surprised it finished so soon. I expected it to be longer and better.
Maybe it needs to grow on me. I absolutely love Us and Them. Money I have heard numerous times before.

Also, didn't expect so many instrumental tracks and a female vocalist wailing for an entire track.

  • Hang in there, Thoughts Arrive.

Setting is also significant. Need to be in a mellow/melancholy mood. Headphones are a plus. Drink in hand is good too.

Isn't all their music for listening and not rocking out to?
I have listened to Meddle, Saucerful of secrets, most of Ummagumma.
I like the song Fearless on Meddle and Set the control for the heart of the sun on Saucerful of secrets.

The Wall for sure to both.

    Wish You Were Here 2.
    Dark Side 3.
    Animals 4.
    Final Cut 5.

As you can tell... I'm not as high on their earlier stuff as others here might be.

I agree with your last statement. I went and saw them anyways on both those post Waters tours, but as awesome as Gilmour is... it's not the same.
