Advice on buying a recording device please.

I have used my digital camera, and I bought a cheaper recorder at Radio shack, but both produce pretty shitty results. I dont want to go all out money wise, but I want something that is going to capture and produce a much better sound, can anyone offer some middle of the road or less expensive yet quality recorders? Thanks.

    Whats the point of recording pearl jam shows yourself when they do it for you?

    get the iriver h120 if you can find it. buy a decent mic and pre-amp. Load on rockbox onto the player. You have the perfect recording device

    yeah buy the bootleg. Why spend the money on the recording device?

    The thing about that is... I wouldnt be using it at Pearl Jam shows. Ive got a good amount of concerts on my plate this summer, and I have heard lots of good recordings from PJ fans, so thought it would be a good place to ask.
