Because without him, they would've finished last instead of 4th in the worst division in baseball? He's a great player, don't get me wrong, but what a joke for MVP.

I wish it was just called the "Best Player Award'. Would be much easier that way.

Hopefully Trout gets a chance to play for a winner at some point.

Dude is the best player in baseball. Can't argue with his numbers. Even though I think Betts should have won.

I honestly wish they had both an MVP award and a Most Outstanding Player award. Trout could have easily won MOP every season, and I have no problem with that. But since the award is Most Valuable Player, I really have a hard time giving it to someone whose team was either never in contention or improved upon the previous season.
Not surprised in the least bit that he won, though. I think it's a farce this season, but it doesn't surprise me, either.

Josh Reddick will be 30 when the contract begins so his outfield defense will start to go down.
He hit .155 against lefties last year with ZERO extra base hits and he just got a 50 million contract.
Damn why did I give up baseball when I was younger.

Yea, 1 year at $8 million. Looks lIke dexter will be gone. Almora and Jay will platoon in CF. If that is the case, I look for jay to get more starts. I think he's better than almora.

cubs have so much $$$, they'll probably make him their $8M defensive replacement.

All star game no longer decides home field in the world series thank god. Would have loved an international draft but I don't think that will ever happen. At least new CBA is done enough where there is no stoppage and the offseason signings and trades can continue.

It's about time they got rid of that nonsense. It was the dumbest rule in all of sports. No international draft, but they put a cap on how much each team can spend on international signing so that should level the playing field a bit on that issue.

As a Giants fan I also love the new looming tax charges on the Dodgers. If I remember correct the Dodgers for next year sit around 220 million in payroll right now with expected arbitration numbers. That does not include Jansen or Turner being resigned. If they hit 235 million they will pay a 92% tax penalty for being more than 40mil over the luxury tax since they count as a 3 time offender. I would think that will help prevent them from being able to do what they want this year.

Really happy about the removal of the ASG/WS home field connection! Also nice to see the DL reduced to a minimum 10 days.

That's the word.. for Robles and more. Knowing the Pirates they'll ask for a past his prime Gio to eat some innings.

Giants could use some outfield help but I hope it's not them who give Fowler the $18M per, multiple years he's after.

Giving long contracts to non power hitting OF"s over the age of 30 doesn't usually go over well.
Just look at the contracts of Ellsbury and Crawford.
Someone will still end up doing it.

I WISH they had the International players in the Draft though.

Reports are that Houston just signed Beltran to a one year deal. Their lineup is pretty damn solid. Can't wait for next season!
