You've got it all backwards, man. The Giants want no part of the best rotation in baseball.

That comebacker up the middle MadBum Caught seemed routine, but if it catches the side of the glove its no Bueno with a man on 2nd.....He's fucking the terminator, I swear it. His postgame interview, I just needed to hear "I'll be back"....Dude is unreal. Missed 2 HR'S, and had a great sac bunt

I thought when Pence struck out with Bases loaded the Mets would prevail

But Conor Fucking Gillaspie choking up on that bat comes though

Game 1 winner in Cubs/Giants I think will win the series. Cueto has great shot....then having MadBum pitch game 3 seems like a death sentence

Playoffs off to a great start

Hey Rob.....hope you are enjoying the last week and hopefully the next month ;) I Hope the Giants Pull it off, I like how they roll. The Bullpen needs a few guys to step up and I think they have their usual shot.

I've been in Cali for all 3 of their WS wins, so yes I am the reason. Wont be there this time around ( going dec 11th Rams VS Falcons and a week off) So if anyone wants to ensure a Giants victory I prefer 3rd Base Line no more then ten rows up :)

Almost went to 2010 VS The Rangers....got interviewed by SF Giants Radio around the stadium day before a game. I enjoyed that

Jealous of that great ballpark and the run this team has been on.

    Great weekend of sports

Terrible call on that check swing
    Great game
  • Awful call on the check swing. With that said this team offensively is a joke. They lack speed, power and rarely deliver in the clutch. How can they be 0-63 when trailing going into the 9th inning? That's obviously terrible, worst in MLB history. Can't do worse than ZERO! When they lose this series in a bunch of 1-0 type games no one should be surprised.

On a side note why did they put Nunez on the roster? He's clearly not healthy based on how he ran to 1st base. Bad decision by Bochy and Evans. Maybe he gets miraculously healthy soon but I really doubt it.

    hitting's a problem.

posey screwed the pooch by not running from the crack of the bat on the ball that got by zobrist. should have been 1-0.

  • I can't fault Posey, he did the right thing. He thought the ball might get trapped so he froze. They teach that in little league, basic fundamentals. He admitted he didn't get a great read on it but I'm not sure he scores anyway. He wasn't running on the pitch and he's slow, especially at this point of the season.

I don't like them throwing Samardzija tomorrow, would rather go with Moore. Hope he proves me wrong but Hendricks is going to pitch great and we can't fall behind early.

^^^^ there were two outs! I suppose he could have run himself into the third out (at third) if zobrist short hops it.

that 0-63 stat is troubling. on the surface, it would look like Bochy can't manage to manufacture a run or that our guys are without heart. I don't believe either of those two and have to believe it's their inability to hit a HR with any regularity. We have plenty of veteran guys....I don't think they're scared....I just think they're incapable. I miss Barry Bonds

2 games in, we've given up ONE run and have a split

Good series giants. You won't find a single Cub Fan that wanted any part of a game 5. I'll still wonder why Moore came out. The guy pitched a hell of a game.

Of course the bullpen ends the season. Ohh well, was a fun one at times and a miserable season other times. They should have some cash to spend in the offseason to fix the bullpen hopefully.

Crawford's first throwing error cost a run (altho the other Brandon usually digs it out).

9th was a fucking nightmare. I was OK with Law (one save all season) but I would have given him one more batter. It's very hard to find your rhythm immediately. I have seen way to much of Lopez issuing walks to the one lefty he needs to get out. Brandon's second throwing error did something bad....by that point it had become surreal.

I have a feeling Casilla may have gone 1-2-3....or not....he had to be feeling "fuck you" as he was watching evertone else shit the bed.

P.S. Giants probably could have had Melancon at the deadline but I don't think anyone thought the situation would continue to spiral downward.k

Painful to watch. Was hoping for Cueto vs Lester in that nail biting Wrigley atmosphere. Matt Moore Looks like a Giant, and I believe you guys have him under control for a few years to round out that rotation.

IMO I thought Strickland should have been the 1st guy out of the Pen...just a hunch. Romo is so bad, and still talks shit. Hopefully he will be gone. No Bite on that breaking ball, 2 games in a row of no execution.

Anyone know if the Giants were in on Andrew Miller? That would have been a perfect fit. I know the Yankees wanted a lot, and got some good prospects from Cleveland.

Tough to see Crawford struggle, but he had that almost HR Double and at the end of the day the BP cost them.

After the game that one dude on Fox Sports ( Not AROD, ROSE, OR BIG HURT) was killing Bochy......3 Run lead you have to think you can get 3 outs at home. But leaving Moore for 1 more batter would not have been the worst thing in the world.

Baseball is cruel...a week ago Giants did to the Mets Bullpen, as the Cubs did to theirs.

Giants still IMO have the best Franchise in Baseball, Gillaspie was awesome.....just sux the Magic ran out.

If my memory serves me right, Peavy comes off the books at 12mil, Lopez at 7mil, Pagan at 10mil and Blanco for just a few mil. I don't see another increase in payroll. They will not replace Peavy as Blach takes over the 5th starter. I think Arroyo will be given every opportunity to convert to the OF and take over LF. We should have 20 mil available to fix the pen hopefully.

  • Tough loss last night but completely predictable. No way they could hide that bullpen in October. Off-season should be interesting, their needs are so obvious. They better get it done in free agency because the minor league system is weak. I've heard some wonder why they didn't make a run at a closer at the deadline. Truth is they did but didn't have the chips to get it done. They gave up their best starting pitching prospect in Bickford for a good but hardly great reliever in Smith. They just don't have the pieces. Everyone is high on Arroyo and he's barely a top 100 prospect on most lists. I would love to see them shop Belt. He's not clutch in any way and Buster eventually needs to play a lot more 1B. Rotation is set, pretty sure Blach is our 5th starter. My off-season would go something like this...

    1. Sign a legit closer and another middle guy. Add that to Law, Smith, Kontos, Suarez and Okert and you have solid pen.
    2. Trade Belt, Strickland and Osich for a stud LF. I dont know who but we need a legit presence in the middle of the lineup.
    3. Sign another serviceable major league catcher.
    4. Play Buster at 1B at least 70 times. Perhaps platoon him with Gillespie. With Nunez at 3rd and hopefully a legit LF this would work. Chris Shaw is on his way as well... a legit power hitting prospect who plays 1B.
    5. Bite the bullet and just release Cain, there's no future for him in SF. Beede is next in line after Blach and even Heston could bounce back.
    6. Don't resign Romo, Lopez, Casilla, Pagan and Blanco. It's time to move on, all great Giants but it's time.

Strickland misses his spots WAY too much. I think he has big value in the trade market because he throws so hard. I could live with him and Law if they were set up guys for a stud closer. Kind of like when Romo and Casilla once were set up guys for Wilson.

Catching has taken a huge toll on Buster's hitting. It pains me to say this but he may never be that player we saw in 2012. He turns 30 next season, time to transition him to 1B. A little at a time. Maybe 70 games next year and increase that number 10-15 games per season. If he's still catching everyday at age 33 or 34 his bat will be that of a 7th or 8th hitter. It's just a fact. I'd rather have him hitting .300 with 20 HR's at age 33 than a broken down catcher who hits .270 with 10 HR's. Which is where he's headed.

Too bad the A's refuse to make trades with the Giants. Belt is the ideal Beane hitter with the high OBP. I'd make a Belt and Trevor Brown for Kris Davis and Stephen Vogt trade right now. Would give us power in LF and a solid catcher to platoon with Buster. That's the type of trade I'd love to see. Belt's act is tired, he'd probably blast 40 HR's in a place like Houston. But it's never going to happen in SF. Even Sabean called him out a few weeks ago saying he didn't think he has the mentality to hit in the middle of the lineup.

    My opening day lineup...

3B Nunez - Really impressed me, even his defense was great.
2B Panik - Lets hope this season was just a fluke, still think he's a .300 hitter.
1B Posey - Would only catch him on MadBum starts and games vs LHP.
LF Davis - Doesn't hit for average but who cares. His power is to LF so AT&T wouldn't kill him. .245 avg 32 HR's. I'd take it.
SS Crawford - Consistently clutch, could drive in 100 runs hitting 5th.
RF Pence - Probably in decline but still has a good season or two in him.
    C Vogt
CF Span - Perhaps hit him 9th like they were doing early in the season.

On a side note I'd love to see them give Mac Williamson a try a 1B. He's a good athlete, tall and could make the transition. If Buster catches vs LHP then Mac could man 1B on those days. Kid had tremendous power, better prospect than Duvall who hit 30 plus HR's this season in Cincinnati. He just needs 200 plus AB's to show it.

Assuming payroll stays the same as this year, the following cash comes off the books:

    Peavy - 15mil
    Pagan - 11.25mil
    Romo - 9mil
    Casilla - 6.5mil
    Lopez - 5 mil
    Blanco - 3.9mil
    Total: 50.65 million

With normal increases to salary/arbitration we should have north of 30mil to spend. I would be willing to bet we sign Blanco again for same type money but everyone else is let go. I'm all in on Arroyo as mentioned before. Saw him 6 to 7 times last spring training and he was the best player on the field in most of the games. He doesn't have the power to be in the OF but only place I see him is in LF or second. Did watch him one game almost put a ball at Scottsdale stadium in the parking lot so he does have some power despite it not showing in his minor league stats. Giants need to decide between him and Panik. I think Panik also can be a .300 hitter with 30 doubles and 10 homers with above average defense. You flip the other one for an upgrade elsewhere. Sign Chapman for the premium and end the 9th inning mess we had this year. Add a couple other bullpen pieces in FA to replace the other people departing, add in better health for Smith hopefully with a whole offseason to let his knee recover and bullpen should be back to what it was before this year. I loved Williamson but was a bit disappointed with him this season. I think you put him in the 4th outfield spot with Blanco in 5th and see what he can do.

The one thing looming over this is MadBum. He still has a few years left on his deal that pays him well below market value. I would hope Giants tack on a couple years in an extension and give him a nice signing bonus to offset the under valued part of the next few years. If you add 3 years to his deal we would have him locked up through his age 33 season. After that he won't be the same and you can decide what to do.
