yes. i'm not a fan of this song. but i noticed how odd eds vocals sounded and had my brother listen to it and we both agree that there's a heavy use of autotune on just breath.

any time a singer sounds like a machine, its autotune these days. long sustained notes that don't waver. perfect intervals in the harmonies it's clearly autotuned.

Have you seen the video of him singing it?

Now you are just trying to annoy people.

He's singing though his nasal passage.

I pray it's not the same computerized, robotic sound that most R&B singers use these days.

i'll see if i can pin down an exactly time when the autotune is most obvious so you can listen for it

listen to the way the notes shift in "yes i un-der-stand" especially the way it gets to the -stand

Perfect intervals are more likely down to editing than autotune, the vocals could easily be spliced from different takes - that's no uncommon at all. Ed's just trying out a different vocal style. Think about this for a second, has Ed ever really struck you as the kind of singer who needs autotuning?

Auto-tune is a normally used as a pitch corrector... but when it's manipulated and played around with enough it can be used to make your voice sound like a robot, like T-Pain, Lil Wayne, Kanye West and Cher (I think she was the first to use it like this)...

Ed's voice sounds fairly normal on Just Breathe, I just think it's his delivery that is making it sound kind of odd... I agree that he sounds kind of nasally on this track but it doesn't take much away from the song for me personally.

You don't have to be George Martin to know what auto-tuning is.

I think you're missing the point that "imissyoualready" is trying to make...he's saying that most people now know about AutoTune because of it's heavy use in rap music, but very few people have experience with it. Clearly "imissyoualready" does (so do I), and you're really only supporting his point I guess lol...

Even if Eddie walked into the studio high out of his mind one day and said he wanted to auto-tune his vocals, Brendan O'Brien would never allow it on one of his Pearl Jam albums.
