This info is according to the Marriott website....

So, anyone know a good hotel in a good area of SLC?

If was visiting Salt Lake I'd stay here http://saltlakecitydowntown.place.hyatt ... /index.jsp
Its right downtown next to an outdoor mall. (about 10 minutes from the venue) Hope that helps. Let me know.

The area around The Gallivan Center (where the hotel is located) is a good place. That will put you in Miley territory because she's playing at the Energy Solutions Arena (fortunately NOT where PJ is playing...the acoustics @ESA are awful IMO). The good thing is, her appearance hasn't affected the rates...or has it? I think it's driven the rates down.

Seriously though, that area is great. There is plenty to do within walking distance.

    Park City 06/21/98
    Las Vegas 07/11/98
    Salt Lake City 09/28/09
    Missoula 09/30/12
    Denver 10/22/14

Welll...I got the venues mixed up. no big deal. It's like a 15 minute drive away... The Hyatt was cheap anyway... and it has a big ol' pool and hot tub (jacuzzi)...and breakfast..

Oh well...I've booked the hotel and now I can't cancel. Looks really nice though....

Yeah, the place is nice. I agree with mitchmoore2, that's the area I'd stay regardless of venue.

While not entirely too far from each other (like mitchmoore2 says, about 10 minutes), they are separate places. Just want to make sure you get to the right venue when you get out here.

    Useless info:
Energy Solutions Arena is downtown where the Utah Jazz play.
The Ecenter is in West Valley where our ECHL Hockey Team, The Utah Grizzlies play.

    Las Vegas 07/11/98
    Salt Lake City 09/28/09
    Missoula 09/30/12

Yeah...the Utah Grizzlies! Maybe I should bring my VANCOUVER Grizzlies flag and shirt ;)

 I eventually got the idea about the venues...brain fart...I'm cognitively impaired! Thanks for giving me the details though...

We are coming from Denver and booked a room for $99 at the Holiday Inn Express. It was finished in 2009, and is only 1 block north of the E-Center, with free shuttle to/from the airport, and free breakfast.

The Hyatt was $93 for two Queensize beds...looks splendid, and is also apparently new...
