Very weird...i was going to start a thread saying pretty much the same thing. My best friend called me last week saying he had hear Pearl Jam's new song and I went on about how much I didn't like it...since then I have listened to it about 20 times....and since about the 11th time i listened to it i started to fall in love with it and now I can't stop listening to it. I love The Fixer......there i said it!

Here we go..... I'm going to "Backspace" a little myself. Let me preface this by saying I am at the tail end of listening to the 2000 tour bootlegs (just finished San Diego tonight) and am in awe of how great they sound. I have been a fan since early 92 when I got Ten and have kept up with them all along. The brilliance of most of their songs, especially on the Binaural album, is unbelievable. Hard to believe but my fave off that album is Sleight of Hand as I hated it for years before. Now I hear The Fixer and kind of cocked my head like a dumbfounded dog. Didn't make sense to me. Didn't sound like Pearl Jam. bashed it in a couple of threads on here the first day. FF to today: After about a dozen listens, I am liking it now. I think I kind of get it. Why can't PJ have a fun, poppy song? The radio is full of older, depressing, hate myself music. PJ wants to lighten it up a little. I get it. I am not a bit worried about how the album is going to sound. I haven't heard it but I know it is going to be great. Hopefully they play some of these new songs on the upcoming tour.
He who forgets will be destined to remember.

With Got Some being the second track and this the 3rd, I really think we are in for something we will all fall in love with and be talking about this album for sometime. These two songs are already such a different sound for the band and if you havent matured and changed with the band....I feel kinda sorry for ya.

    Love the artwork too!

The Fixer is a great little pop song. Exactly what I wanted from Ed and the boys, can't wait for Backspacer.

i think that any new album that comes out, we tent to be a bit hesitant about... ITS SOMETHING NEW!! a bit foreign... i remember when Yeild and No Code first came out... It took me a few listens before i really got into them...Yeild is one of my favorite albums of all time. This album will be great... just hang in there.

I dug it from day one (admittedly because I was in the mood for something exactly like this), and am still digging it after at least 50 listens. I think its awesome that many others are realizing they like it!

I like it but I'm surprised every time when the song fades out all of a sudden.

Yeah, if you play it backwards you can ear Ed say: "Dance, my pretties, dance the night away! Muahahahahahaha!"

    It's a FUN song!

I think people take the band too serious sometimes. Expectations were high for the first single as usual. Especially with Brendon O'Brien back.. Sure the lyrics aren't top notch, but the song rocks out!
