if the man wants to work, let him work he's got mouths to to feed.

¥eah $176 for a pair of tickets to see him sit on a stool for two hours isn't enough to feed his family.

    Tower theater: 3119 capacity
Ticket face value plus service charges: $88 per ticket

    $88 x 3119 = $274,472
    x 2 nights
$548,944 for 4 hours of work (Not including merch sales of a few grand per show easily). Lets say about half of that money goes to the promoter, opener, misc and service charges and what not. So 2 nights he makes about $275k. I don't think his children are starving. So although he has every right to do private gigs and it's NONE of our business if he chooses to do these, please don't try to justify it or defend it on the basis of he needs more money. I'm assuming that these private gigs pay VERY well so it would have been nice if tickets to his solo shows weren't so damn expensive.

This is the stupidest go-to response on all of these "sell out/not sell out" threads.

YES, Ed's kids will go hungry if he doesn't play a private show. Give me a break. How will he possibly afford his mortgage payment, utility bills, charitable donations, AND he's got mouths to feed! Poor guy, I don't know how he does it, with those starving kids pulling at his leg all the time begging for food.

This is the new stupidest go to response on all of these "sell out/not a sell out" threads.

Seriously!? You think in today's economy, it's cool to talk about millionaires as having "mouths to feed" or "families to support" which is what so many idiots on this board always go to?

Every member of this band (well maybe not Boom, but probably him too) could never create or release a single recording again, and they'd be just fine, even if they had 6 more kids a piece. They are rich. They could spend the rest of their lives inside their houses and be just fine financially.

I'm just sick of fans acting like that's some sort of support or reasoning for every business decision/recording release that happens.... We all have families to support and bills to pay and none of us have as plush "jobs" as Pearl Jam or as much money. So stop saying they're doing something to support or FEED their family, cause it's bullshit.

A-fucking-men. I don't know how on your figures are, but that's what I'm talking about. It's so fucking stupid to act like Ed needs money.

Eddie actually gets roughly 60-65% of the FACE VALUE. Then you subtract costs for his crew and whatnot. I didn't go to the show, but after service fees was $88 a ticket....so let's just say face value was $80.

    80x3119 = 249520
    x2 nights = $499,040
    65% of roughly $500,000 = $325,000 for 2 nights work.

I have no more direction on my post, just giving a little more insight
    adioss.

I hope that EV agreed to play the corporate party for an outrageously ridiculous fee and then played songs like Corduroy. EV picked the corporate pocket. I would like to see more performers do something like this - play these types of gigs for ridiculous amounts of money and then get in these corporate types' faces and ears. Just like I'd like to see congressmen start ripping off the lobbyists - take the money and then do the opposite of what they thought they paid for. Take the money and run.

One other thing, I don't know about mouths to feed, but who do all of you sell out criers think is paying for this website and all of the fringe benefits associated with it?

I'm sorry if I stepped on somebody's toes here. I'm a grumpy old dude and I should know better to stay out these types of frays, but I'll offer my viewpoint just like everybody else here is.

Thank you for getting a little more specific. I think 65% is much more closer to right than the 50% I threw out there. I was just pulling a number out of my ass but the face value and capacity of the tower were both correct figures. 325k....his family must be starving! He got paid over 81k AN HOUR. Eighty one thousand dollars an hour! I'm unemployed and getting very sporadic work here and there. When I do it's about $15 an hour. I'm much more worried about feeling my own mouth than the mouths of a rockstar's family.

    Fuck me sideways

So we're now actually sitting down with our calculators and working out how much Eddie earns? Why on fucking gods name is that any of our business?

This thread was to reveal that Eddie played a show, good on him. Does that make him a sell out? Do I care? Do I still love his work?

Fuck me you guys would sure hate Bono based on earnings alone. How dare he make money off his talent?

And for all we know he may have donated quietly his fee for the corporate do to a charity....and that in itself would be a welcome change, the quiet bit I mean, because quite frankly when a celeb decides he/she has to tell the world about the dfonations they make it stinks as being a publicity stunt

Hey I based my info on the latest ticketmaster article in the new rolling stone that uses green day as an example. It has never been common knowledge about the breakdown of fees. I'm glad it finally is.
