the first movie had ZERO plot and the special effects were nausiating and pointless

michael bay is the worst thing to happen to cinema since jerry bruckheimer and post-good stuff george lucas and steven speilberg... its really insulting to make a sequel to such a worthless POS movie knowing that impressionable teens are gonna spend their hard earned money to drool over megan fox for 2 wasted hours

and you know there will be a 3rd... i just cant wait to stop hearing about it

thats my take... based on uhh... nothing  enjoy the film this weekend

Eh, it's mindless fun. It kills 2 hours quickly without being obtuse or hard to follow, and sometimes that's all you want.
    Thanks EPOTTSIII!

I was disappointed with the movie. It was too goofy at times. The fight scenes were confusing.... and the story of an awkward teen without any friends who is visited by extra terrestrials and goes on an incredible adventure and becomes a man and gets the hot chick.... is waaaaaay to cliche/unoriginal.

Like every other kid my age, I loved the Transformers, and I can remember going to see the original cartoon movie in 1986 when I was 10 and we all thought it was so cool because they used the words "shit" and "ass" AND transformers actually died.

So a big group of us went to see the Michael Bay film and despite how ridiculous it was, or because of it, I was thoroughly entertained. Honestly, I can enjoy watching any Michael Bay film ONCE, with the exception of Pearl Harbor. However, I have no interest in seeing this sequel.

    Same here...I loved the cartoon

I liked the first one..some goofy spots in it...but they try to appeal to the kids also

I felt like such a loser when I was in OLD NAVY..they had this huge sign advertising a free TRANSFORMERS Poster when you buy a Transformers T-shirt...I'm looking and looking...nothing..I asked the lady working there where are the Transformers T-shirts ? and she said.."Oh, it's only for boys sizes..."

I loved it. No brain required. There is a LOT more action than the first movie. And there are some stunning scenes in it (the fight in the forest looks magnificent). Loads more Optimus Prime than the first film, so thats always good. And they put Soundwave & the constructicons in - whats not to like? :) Sam's mom is hilarious too. Megan Fox....and that girl Isabel Lucas (the hot girl in the college) are great.

So yeah, the film brought out the kid in me.

Most people who I know that didnt like it complained about the nonsensical story - Hello!! Its a film about Transformers!!

Compared to the first film they don't develop or explain the story well. But this story is faithful to the the old cartoons, so the storyline is actually fairly predictable if you watched the cartoons/the cartoon movie. I guess my point is that they could have made it even more unrealistic, so just be thankful.

I'd love to have seen these movies made a bit more sinister, with less "hollywood blockbuster" dialouge, but im happy with whats been done. Over the top, tongue in cheek, and cheesy as hell. Just like the old transformers. 8/10

Totally agree. I didnt mind the first one, but the very next day, I couldnt tell you a thing about the move except some explosions (and Ms. Fox, of course -- assholes marketing to my lower half!) If the plot and characters dont stick with you, whats the point really? mindless fun is okay sometimes, but this one just makes me feel icky. Michael Bay has done nothing impressive.

I know thats what I keep saying you're not gonna get an Oscar worthy movie when the movie is about talking robots and was a cartoon to begin with !

She's in uhm, the uhm......the bonus features on the Transformers 1 DVD!!! :P But other than that, you'll have to make do with millions of photos of her semi-naked in modelling shoots, or getting "papped" on the way to the shops. Woot!

Of Course! They watched the cartoons a few years ago. That's why they started collecting the action figures.

We saw the movie this afternoon. It was about what I expected: lots of action with the robots and silly dialogue for the humans! :)

Saw it this weekend, loved it, can't wait to see it again, and again.

It seemed to be that they were trying to establish more of the Transformers history, along with more of everything else too, and I was wondering if it was newly established history in the movie or if the story had been established at an earlier time in the Transformers universe. Does anyone know?

Have a great week, all. :)

Here is your base formula for a summer blockbuster:

    * Lots of action and cool effects - check
    * Hot female lead accompanied by as many shots of hot women doing hot women things like dance and read books - check
    * Hunky male leads who want to save the world - don't know about shia here but the two army guys fit the bill i guess so check
    * Bad guy everyone can hate - this is what the government lackey was for ... check
    * Comedic interludes - not so much but John T is hilarious

Put it all together with a loose plot and don't worry about the rest - and that is what you get. If you want to be entertained for a couple of hours and don't care about things that don't make sense - go see it. If you can afford the extra $$ - go see it on IMAX ... and by that I mean a real IMAX - not the fraud IMAX digital screens that are the same size as regular screens.

Saw it last night. Fun. The action scenes were cut a little better than the last one. In other words I could follow some of what was going on.

I guess if I had any advice to give Michael Bay it would be do less tongue-in-cheek/slapstick stuff. I didn't really think that in the middle of a big battle scene that I (or anyone else) needed an extended shot of Devastator's truck nuts. Really.

Fun though. As much and as passionately as I hate Michael Bay I knew exactly what I was getting myself into and I did get my $ worth. 2.5 hours. Go see it on a big screen.

should have called this movie Tran-snore-mers. I enjoyed the first one for what it was...this one just didn't connect on any level. The cheesy jokes and one liners that worked the first time came out lame and uninspired this time. My favorite part of the first one was any part with John Turturro. I was psyched to see him back, but ugh... I was almost embarrassed for him by the end. And I'm at a point where I'm pretty much done paying to watch a CG character fight a CG character with crap happenning and camera angles changing so fast you can't even tell what's going on.

And does every frigging movie have to be two and half hours long?? Maybe it's just me, but the older i get, the more i believe 90 minutes is perfect for a movie..two hours TOPS.

That was a long-ass movie. The fight scenes in the forest and in Egypt were amazing, and I was glad to see Devastator make an appearance, but I could have done without some of the silliness. Did we really need to see a Transformer humping Megan Fox's leg? And those gangsta-bots were the equivalent of Jar-Jar Binks x2. Just awful.

That said, the fight in the forest where Prime takes on 3 Decepticons was just outstanding.
