The problem was that there were 4,800 10C tickets - MUCH MORE than most shows. Most people showed up to pick up their tickets after 6:00 and there wasn't enough time for the 10C to hand out that many tickets in that short of a time frame. It cause massive lineups at the ticket windows that they couldn't handle. Many people missed as much as half of the first set from what I heard.

If people missed the show then they got there way too late. I got there around 7 and still had time to get my tix, have a beer and get to my seat, then decide i need to pee so I ran to the bathroom, waited in line, did my business and got back to my seat before Pearl Jam took the stage.

Bottom line, show up before the show starts to get your tickets!

Isn't that the whole reason why they open the box office early? I don't think it's 10c's fault.

Really? Well if you don't show up until after 7 you are asking for it...

Exactly. I got out of work at 430 and drove 2 hours. I was really worried about missing the show, but I had no choice of when I got there. The line was long but they did move it decently quick. Like I said I got my tickets and had plenty of time to get inside.

Spend less time pregaming in the parking lot folks, or get your tix then walk back to the car.

Yeah definitely not 10c fault. Good for them for getting more 10c seats. I have number 415xxx and was only 10 rows in front of the lawn.... but at least I was in the building!!! Mansfield 2 must have had less 10c tickets available because for that show I was a good 50 yards closer to the stage. Anyone who got into the concert late waited until the last minute to pick up tickets. I got mine no problem at about 7 15. Pearl Jam even waited an extra 10-15 minutes later to go on stage then they were supposed to because they were aware of the long 10c line. Great Show!

I never suggested that it was.

Similar thing happened at the first Gorge show in 06. They delayed the start of the show because of it and a lot of people still missed the first 3-4 songs. What was crazy about that show is that a large number of people were camping there and could have just walked over and picked up their tickets any time during the day. But of course, they all waited until 7:30 :)

I'm not gonna argue why it happened.... I was in the line... I may have gotten there later then some, but no later then I usually arrive to shows and have no problem with getting tickets and making it to my seat early. I missed 5 songs.

I wasn't saying you said it. Lot of people blamed 10c.

I absolutely despise people waiting till the last minute.. I HATE it. I like having my tix first, having fun then going in.

You have to have some compassion for the fans. Traffic in Central and Southern CT is the worst in the country IMO.

I wouldnt expect 10c to really expect that/such a rush either.

Part of the problem was traffic was horrendous that day (at least coming from Philly). I planned on being at 10-C window around 4 and didn't get there until 7:30, when there was a huge line.

The off-site lots and the long walk to the cars discourages people from getting tix early.
Man I hate that place. Two guys next to me were cursing EV (and loudly) from the third row as they missed seven songs.

that line was outta hand Ive never seen anything like it-not since sleeping our for dead tickets in the 80s anyway

Nah, I got in just in time, but I know people who weren't so lucky.

From what i remember, their was like 4 ticket windows open for the 10club and you could stand in any line. Normally it is divided up by your last name with each window having 1/4th of the tickets. But at Hartford I get up to the window and give them my license and they went over to a table that had all the ticket envelopes on it and they start digging thru everything looking for my tix. So while theirs 1 worker looking for my tickets...the 3 other workers from the other 3 windows are standing around waiting to get a turn at the big box of tickets.

Good to hear. What made that show was the first 9-10 songs. It would have been tragic to miss half of those.

I took a cab from our hotel into the venue, there was no way I was going to drive there b/c I did it in 06 and fucking hated it... and then leaving there was even worse in 06... again, called a cab to bring me back to the hotel and it was sweet... We ended up getting there pretty early like 5 or so and had plenty of time to do what we needed to do before the show started...

on a side note, whoever decided to put that venue in the middle of a city is a fucking moron... it's really hard to get in and out of there... get there early... leave early (during the last song if you gotta)... it's your best bet if you're driving.

We parked in one of the farthest away parking lots and walked at least a mile to 1.5 miles - there were enough people around that it felt safe both ways. We got there early but I know not everyone can. IMO venues don't really care about making it convenient for people, esp. at rock shows.

WE HAVE A WINNER, that's what happened, luckily I go there super early and didn't have to deal with the mess, but YES, they DID NOT have the tickets in ready in alphabetical order. At Mansfield they had something like A-E, F-M, N-S, T-Z and so on with all the tickets divided up. At Hartford they did not have it set up like that and the ticket people were walking around all around trying to find peoples tickets. The funny thing is if you had regular will call tickets or just wanted to buy one at the show you could just walk right up and it took all of 2 minutes!

Lets not forget the unfortunately large amount of people cutting the line, thus making those of us with a conscience wait even more  ..I missed about 4 or 5 songs but thats because my friend whose tickets we were using didn't show up until late because of work.

me and my best friend didn't have a car so we had to take a bus from manhattan to hartford which took a few hours. we get to the motel 6 and we have a problem. neither of us were 21 at the time (still not) so my friend had to talk her way into the employee giving us our reservation that she paid for already online. we get in, settle down with our stuff (and freshening up because it was june and we were on an unairconditioned bus for like 5 hours) and i decide i should call my mom. we get into a huge fight. yay. so i'm thinking, oh, we have like an hour and a half to get our tickets and get to our seat before the supporting band goes on stage, let's get on line. but wait, the line is a super giganto monster line, why is that? usually we get there an hour before and pick up the tickets and it's all fine, usually there's (at most) 2 or 3 people on line. but no. there were about 50 or more people in front of us who have been waiting for a while. who'da thunk it'd take 2 hours to get our tickets? it doesn't even take 2 minutes to get our tickets usually. i remember only one guy giving out tickets (though i may be wrong) as opposed to the several people there usually are. so we miss about 5 songs and the supporting group just waiting on that godforsaken line. i think i remember later on they opened up more windows and made things faster, but my god it was complete hell for us. we vowed never to go to hartford again after that day.
there are some people who say that we should have gotten there earlier to avoid that problem, but you know what, sometimes things don't work out like that. plus, if you've gone to previous shows before when it only took a minute to get tickets, you don't suddenly think "oh, today might be different, let's go there as early as possible!" and if we could have gotten there earlier i think we would have, but we were at the mercy of a chinatown bus and the insane traffic. i swear we were in delaware well over an hour. i think i could walk through delaware faster!

that was classic...the parking lot scene was ridiculous before the show as well...it felt like it was the start of the LA riots....a true ghetto scene haha. Didn't the cops start spraying people with mase who were plowing over that fence?

I was lucky to have friends in the area and we even got his mom to escort a group of us to the show so we could smoke/drink etc...I always go early to get my 10c tix because shit can happen and its not worth cutting anything close.

This is the only Pearl Jam show i can remember that actually scheduled to start late because it was a Friday night in Hartford and wanted to give people extra time to get to the show. I left Boston at 2 and got down there by 4 with absolutely no traffic, not sure if it got that much worse later, I'm sure it did.
