Target's not bad

Anyone who's angry/disappointed over the album being released through Target needs to get a life.
Target is one of the few corporations that gives back to the community and donates millions of dollars to charity every year. At the target I work at, there's always flyers posted around informing us about community volunteer opportunities and events, and so on...

Anyways, at least it's not Walmart!! :x

This was a smart move by the band, IMO.

i dont know anything about target-but if what you say is true, then im all for it. the bands always putting others first-whether its fans or just those who need help. there must be a reason for this move, and no doubt its a great one. they have never let me down before.

Im from the UK and do not know Target but as said before me, I cant imagine the band working with a shitty business. They do seem to be on the case about things in the business world.

"One of the few corporations that gives back to the community"

LOL! So you've researched all the other big players out there and come to this informed conclusion?

Most US corporations donate to charity because most US corporations are run by decent, generous hard working Americans. Hell, with the taxes they pay alone Wal-Mart does a lot of good for the "community."

Just FYI that many not a few public companies give back to the community and donate millions to charity. Of course they could/should give more....but thats not the point. In 2007 Walmart gave about double($340 million vs $169 million) away to charity that Target did. I don't like Walmart but to say there are drastically differnent from Target as a public company is off base.

Of more than 1,400 Target stores employing more than 300,000 people nationwide, not one has a union. Employees at various stores say an anti-union message and video is part of the new-employee orientation. At stores in the Twin Cities, where Target is headquartered, the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) union Local 789 has been trying for several years to help Target employees organize, with little luck.

It is IMPOSSIBLE to live in the USA, or any other industrialized nation, and avoid chains of giant corporations...that's just how things are; I don't know where you'd have to live to completely avoid it.

But please, they have NEVER been detached from commercialism! So let's everyone just get over it...it's ridiculous to expect so much from them, it's just not realistic!

In the UK unions dont really have a place other than in government funded sectors. Infact unions have caused more trouble than good

Good thing. I work in a major retail chain that isn't unionized either. I prefer to keep more of my money than have it go to some teamster thug. Unions have destroyed American industry.

Pearl Jam knows what they're doing. I completely trust whatever they decide to do. AC/DC released their last album through Walmart, no one had a problem with that.

i work at a large super market in massachusetts and connecticut which is constantly showing us anti-union videos during our continuous trainings. i personally think that the unions aren't needed here and as with target i'm sure they are doing fine without them. go pj!

I wonder where we would all be without unions..... :? Collective baragaining has its place. My husband works on a site where there are unionised and non union staff. The unions members pay their fees, the unions fight for their rights (safety, pay conditions and hours etc) and the non union staff get to grab the benefits with no money out of their pockets; they also come out of it all smelling like roses. Then they bag the unions...
perhaps it is different in Australia? AND I know that i have gone totally off track...sorry
